Re: Rda numbers confusing this guy

I think you're looking at one piece of the puzzle. RDA is a good number to have but what about Action Angle (the number not the rating), lure weight range, stiffness to weight ratios, and bend characteristics (where the power is, or starts). It's conceivable to have two blanks 74 grams apart that pe...

Re: Guide size chart?

Measure the OD of the ring NOT the frame. This will be an estimate because the frame probably wraps the ring a little. That measurement in millimeters is the "size" of the guide

Re: Spinning Seat Question

Seems like an easy thing to do and we screamed for it when FUJI introduced the TVS. Their explanation (not defending just passing along) was all about the "window size". On small diameters the touch area would shrink to almost nothing and on large diameters it would enlarge to the point where streng...

TFOUR... are you saying you use a RV20 as a stripper on a spiral wrapped baitcasting rod? I must be reading something wrong.

Re: Rod Blank Suggestions

Try the smallest nylon ties you can find. Cinch them onto the blank a couple of inches tipward of where you want the guide to end up. Slip the guide foot under the tie and slide it into position. I have never scratched a blank doing this with Fuji guides but can't say all other guide feet are as smo...

Re: Point Blank Web Site

701MF is my go to blank for a lot of different things. Definitely the most versatile blank in the entire selection. Recently I ordered some of the freshwater sized Skitterwalks thinking it may be preferred over the larger saltwater version we throw around here for seatrout and reds. It turned out to...

Re: Hopefully an easy question

Not so much "action" as bend characteristics. If the bend under load allows the blank to bend to the extreme in one area then yes, it will take more guides. Most builders place guides using this method or something similar.

Re: up locking or threadless spinning reel seat

The Fuji VSS seat will put the heel of your thumb in contact with cork along the top of the seat when you cast. Combined with a KDPS thread cover sleeve it should be pretty close to the seat your looking at.
