Shimano 50 size, gear question
I know the Chronarch 50E 6.4 and Brenious 7.7 gears go into the Aldebaran MG, but how about the Core 50MG7 gears? I am looking to swap another Aldebaran and have found the MG is normally cheaper than the MG7, by enough to order the gear sets. What other reels are in the same family?

Re: 09 Alde MG gear swap
Standard ch50e set is a 6.4 ratio. It is all that is needed to the swap but a drag upgrade is never a bad idea. The core 7.0 aluminum gears are still a very smooth set of gears and seem to hold well being that they are not a micro module setup. Thanks, for the price, I ordered the 50E set and will ...

09 Alde MG gear swap
Hey all, looking to swap from my 5.8 aluminum gears to a brass gear that is faster. I see TT has the CH 50E gearset, no Brenious 7.7 righties in stock. Would the CH 50 set be 6.2:1? I see it includes the drive gear and pinion gear. Is that all that's needed? When I get it set up, I'm sending it out ...

Re: Show off your OG Zillion
May I ask an honest question? Does the gold ring on the guide serve a purpose other than beauty? I'm getting a reel that the ring is gone, but the price was really good, so I bought it anyway. I see Gary has guides for $17.99, so not too big a deal, but figured I'd ask. Is it gone or just a differe...

Re: Show off your OG Zillion
Thanks. I was planning to order it and send it to my guy for ceramics and carbontex as well. It'll be a sweet chatterbait reel.

The Revros is a great looking reel too. It's definitely on the list.

Recommend me a spinning reel
Ok, allow me to preface this by saying I am not interested in a Shimano as this is on my creek wading rod. I am looking for a $50-100 spinning reel to go on my St. Croix Eyecon 6'3" MXF with 15/4 PP S8S. My old reel was a Lew's SG300 that was $50 new. I used it for 8 years. I just got a Lew's Mach M...

Re: Dog X Quick Walker vs Speed Slide
I was thinking the same thing. They're really nice baits and I love tossing them.

Dog X Quick Walker vs Speed Slide
Simply put, what's the difference? I have 1 SS and 3 QW. They both fish very similarly and I can't really tell the difference. I'm just curious here. Pic is of 2 Quick Walkers, just a picture of two of my baits.

Re: Store brand rods and reels
May I ask why you think inexpensive or store brand tackle isn't the target of this site? I'm not an owner and I don't want to put you on the spot, just wondering. Many on here fall under the enthusiast label. It seems that most on here do not appreciate anything that isn't Daiwa or Shimano. That's ...

Re: MB Dark Sleeper
I have a quick question fellas. I've got a major jones for the DS and was wondering, in my situation, what would you recommend? From my 'yak, I float some skinny, gnarly places where a 6'6" stick is almost too long, but then I also fish some open lakes and ponds. I'm wanting to fish these in a kayak...

Re: MB Dark Sleeper
First time out with these, I caught two on my first two casts. They seem to try and swallow these quickly, making hooksets easy to make. I was using the 3", 1/2oz in hanahaze. First flip was against a tree in a little feeder of a park lake and I skittered it away about 4 feet. Whilst sinking, it got...

Store brand rods and reels
I know it isn't the target of this site, but what are some store brand rods and reels you find to be passable to total steals? For me, it's the H2O Mettle reels and Ethos HD casting rods. My creek setups consist of Mettle MT2 reels on older Lightning Rod pistol grip 5.5' rods. I can drop a jig, cran...
