Re: Problem with JDM reel.
Hopefully Shimano introduces SLX DC XT 70/71 in US market. The gear set might be around 30 bucks or so. This one might be a keeper, casting 1/2oz Jackhammer with 15lb braid in 10mph wind with no overrun (dial 2 mode PE). Got to break in the reel alright with 2 nice bass. Don’t get me wrong I love my...

Re: When's the last time....
Just two days ago and it hasn’t happened for me for quite some time. I took my SLX dc XT 70 out for a test run along with my alphas SV TW. It was a little bit windy 5-10mph but I had no problem with SLX casting into wind. I have 15lb braid and casting 5 gram free rig. I test a few cast and lower the...

Re: Putting on Drag Star
I normally will tighten drag star all the way down before tighten the nut with hand. Use wrench only just a little bit and to align the screw hole with nut cap.

Re: Tsurinoya Dexterity Ⅱ C722UL
I have the exact rod c722 along with Proflex 632. It can cast 1/16oz head with 2” plastic quite well. I can get it down to 1/24oz head. I used the rod for 10-12” crappie and small bass. The rod has pretty soft tip from being solid tip but also have some backbone better than Teton. The problem though...

Re: Should I switch to left handed retrieve for BFS?
There’s probably no clear answer in my case, but I’m leaning towards staying with right handed retrieve since I’m already decently proficient with my left hand, and because it seems unlikely that I’ll do a wholesale swap from right to left retrieve reels in my other gear. But there’s still time to ...

Re: Problem with JDM reel.
Will see what gonna happen. JPS received the defective reel and scheduled to send a new reel to me in a couple days. I started playing with the good one. The DC sound is not as obnoxious as other ppl say. The DC BRAKE is quite strong I have to go way down to dial 2 on PE mode using 15lb braid line w...

Re: Do you trust aluminum gears?
I've heard some bad experiences with aluminum gears but I have to say my steez A has been most impressive. I forgot I owned this reel, my original Steez A had great gears too. I had a levelwind issue on it though and had it fixed then sold it. I assume the newer version has the "hyperdrive" gear de...

Re: Do You Use Spinning Reels?
I use spinning gear only for Neko Rig and glide some Ned Rig. I don’t think nowadays with shallow spool bait caster reel, weight is a main issue to use either ones. Holding the rod with my finger on my dominant hand make me move/twist the lure easier and more precise.

Re: Do you trust aluminum gears?
Really depends, landing 10lb fish is not as abused as pulling snag with the reel or cranking some big deep crank. I have brass Shimano gears gone bad on a few reels as well as brass from Alphas SV TW. My alde mg 7 and core 50mg as smooth as it can be when sold. I assume me pulling snag all days ruin...

Re: Anyone tried DIY spools? $29-$40 BFS spools!
Any long cast type spool for Alphas SV TW 800? I don’t want BFS spool (already have Ray 32mm) but capacity close to SLP works SV 800S spool or 6-8lb mono/fc ~75yds?

Re: Should I switch to left handed retrieve for BFS?
I can cast with left and right. Right hand no problem whatsoever but left hand back hand is pretty accurate but no distance, over head and side arm, good distance but no where near I want it to be.

Re: Should I switch to left handed retrieve for BFS?
I’ve fish right hand baitcaster for over 30 years. I started using left hand retrieve in 2018 and now I’m hook. This is just not BFS but for bass in general. Using left hand reel I can move my rod with right hand with more precise and more finesse. Right hand is also perfect for walking dog, jerkbai...

Nice, how the cast? I’m not expecting anything super light just 3/16-1/4oz
