Re: After 10 years in a kayak ...
Congrats on the new ride! I'm thinking of moving away from a SOT kayak in favor of a lightweight solo canoe. My Cuda LT is only 65#, but man, it's getting tougher each year to move/unload/load it. Not sure how it'll work inshore, but those 20# weights are sure enticing. AND, love the trolling motor....

Saltwater- Steez 1016 and ZPI PG spools
I did a quick search and didn't find anything.... Can I use a Steez SV G1 1016 or a ZPI NRC001-PG in a Steez A while inshore fishing? And I guess the follow-on question is would I want to- knowing that I'd also use those spools back in freshwater with a Steez SV? Equipment will be rinsed after every...

Re: GlX 843C MBR vs Kistler Zbone light medium heavy 7'
I've had the GLX 844MBR (and have used the 843) and own several Zbones. I have in fact a LMH 7' Zbone. Hmmm... the taper on the 843 is pretty awesome, but the Zbone LMH much lighter and more sensitive. I'm biased, but I'd go with that X-Ray blank. I think it can do more, better. Yes, yes, there's th...

Did you stick with the 1.5PE for the Steez A?

LOL- same here! I ordered two spools of Castaway for this fall. Expectations are high for some epic stories like this.

Re: Ultimate speckled trout set-up
I’m using a Jackson Cuda LT. love the light weight and paddles well (thermoformed vs. roto). Hmm, your 843 project /comments have got me thinking on switching from a Light MH/Fast spinning to a Med/mod fast casting with a Steez A. Both rods are Zbones, but the casting rod is a standout in that lineu...

Re: Ultimate speckled trout set-up
JBcrankaddict- WOW! those are beauties. Up here in NC (Swansboro) we're not seeing ones that big. Not yet anyway. Are you the one that removed the cork from your Conquests and replace the guides? Looking at one of your pics, I see a split grip Conquest. Also, glad to see another kayaker out there. :...

Re: Ultimate speckled trout set-up
My setup-
Kistler Zbone (X-ray blank) Medium Light Mod Fast 7’0 rod with a 2016 Daiwa Exist 2506 PE-H. Sufix 832 white 10# braid to some Sunline System Leader FC 15#.
Light, smooth, but with enough backbone to pull out some big ones.

Re: Is the Steez SV TW currently the best low profile bass reel on the market?
I should get a ZPI M spool for my SV TW. The PG spool works so well though. And the stock spool is no slouch.
Yeah, the SV TW reel is my favorite bait caster- definitely one I’d choose over all the others.

Re: Fluoro suggestions
I went out today with a Steez SV103 spooled from some leftover Tatsu 8# (spinning and FC are not for me). I was impressed. I've been using braid the last couple of years and forgotten how quiet FC (and mono) are through the guides. Didn't have any major professional overruns. Sprayed liberally with ...

Re: Lost fish therapy
I reflect (okay, maybe a quick and hushed curse) on what could've been. Then I cast back out since I assume that fish liked the bait the first time and he/she's near by. I'm an optimist! I've learned we all lose fish and no one really cares when i'm back home. Not that big of a deal to me, it's fami...

Re: How Do You Keep Your Fishing Closet Organized?
Some really great systems in this thread. I keep my rods on a rod rack (that aluminum one I forget the name) and reels on the ones in rotation. Tackle is on either on pegboards or in clear cases. Line is on pegboard with the exception of FC which is in a small drawer. The peg board was really the ga...
