Re: 2016 New Steez?

Shame on Daiwa for releasing so many variants of reels. Shame on them for trying to innovate. Why can't they just leave well enough alone? What good could come of trying (and in certain instances failing) to reinvent the wheel? What a horrible, horrible thing for Daiwa to do fishing enthusiasts at ...

Re: What's your favorite Liberto PIXY (w/poll)

I voted the bumblebee yellow because it just so rare to see that color on a quality reel. The only
other reel I can think of with that color scheme is Skeet's Wright & Mcgill gear, so... yeah.

Re: Dobyns light jig, finesse plastics rod

So here's my perspective, for what its worth... I have the champion 733c, and the dx742c hp doesn't fish that much differently from it. The 742 hp is a more sensitive rod, and has a faster action, but the 733c has just a pinch more power to it. I end up using the 733c for moving baits, and the 742 h...

Re: Dobyns light jig, finesse plastics rod

If it were being used more for the 3/8 jig + trailer, I think the 743c hp is preferable... if its being used
more for the tubes and shakey heads, then I'd go 742c hp. The 742c is perfect for finesse 1/4 + trailer jigs, but 3/8
is about where I would pick up the 743.

Re: New Steez TWS

Funny. There was nothing inspiring about that video
to me. The base and front of reel look wide, the
top of the reel looks like a poorly designed convertible,
and the music made me want to throw up.

But why do I feel the need to own it, RIGHT NOW,
cast it, and yell in japanese?

Re: Some one HELP ME!!!

High maintenance girlfriend/ wife would help.
A kid or two doesn't hurt either.
In some cases, a general desire to contribute to society
at large could also assist.
Lastly (and best way) is philanthropy... specifically to
fellow tackletour members (me).

Re: Swimbait reel

The conquest is the last shimano reel that I own, and I use it to throw
the 8 inch hudds. As much as my loyalty has turned to Daiwa over the years,
I don't see any reel replacing my conquest anytime soon.

I've had the best hook rates with the RI swamp donkey, and I also think
its a pretty great walking frog.

Re: What's the best underspin?

I too love sworming hornet fish head spin, but hate the light wire hook.
That is why I only fish the 1/8 or 3/18 version of the fish head spin because
im only using 5-8 lb test.

Anything bigger I think the davis model has a much stouter hook.

Re: Must have crankbaits

Without knowing exactly what constitutes mid/semi/deep cranks, I'll give it a shot. So just to preface, I'm in Southern California fishing primarily in gin clear waters, and basically never fish cranks with rattles, so my selections may not directly apply to your fishing conditions. For deep divers ...

Re: Gear Ratio for 1/4 oz crankbaits

6.3:1 is perfect for my light cranking. Especially when fishing smaller squarebills to 5 feet, sometimes that extra speed is the key for the right deflection off of cover.

Re: Reeling Demographics... are you a righty or lefty

I'm right hand dominant, but old habits die hard... I've used right handed since I started using baitcasters and never made the switch. I see the benefits of a left handed reel, but could never get comfortable. It should also be noted I don't own a single spinning reel, but if I did, I'd put the han...
