best round bait caster for around $100?
Does any one have any suggestion on a round bait caster for around $100 for salt water. I think i've seen one made by akuma but i have no knowledge on that reel. It also has wiffle spool.

Re: Help in Daiwa Emcast and Emblem reels guys
the daiwa BG is an ugly reel. I was hopping to get the emcast so i can have non regular anglers use it and i can use it for the surf. The daiwa BG is ugly and i thought about that before but if it was a choice i rather choose the shimano baitliner. But i dont like the looks of the bait liners either...

Help in Daiwa Emcast and Emblem reels guys
Hey guys got a question in regards to the daiwa emcast plus, sport and emblm pro. I know these reels are specifically designed for long distance surf casting but do you think they will hold up ok on the cattle boat? Do you think they will be able to pull in a yellow tail or white sea bass. I ask thi...

Re: Help in selecting a low profile salt water surf reel
ok...now i'm really confused. All i want now is a reel that can cast with a live bait on the surf or using a hardbait, mainly for halibut fishing. I would like a wiffle spool, because from what i hear a wiffle spool will cast much farther then one with out. I will look in to a curado 100 but i am no...

Re: Help in selecting a low profile salt water surf reel
yeah but the cv-x103 is a round bait caster where as the stx is a low profile. not to get off-topic, but i dont think this is a round vs. low-pro issue. regarding the sailfish on the STX, i'd have to give at least equal if not more credit to the skipper and the angler for landing that fish. sure it...

Re: Help in selecting a low profile salt water surf reel
would you even recomend me blow $200+ on a surf reel for the salt water. I'm thinking for the long run... i have a few friends that use high-end reels i.e. antares/calais, chronarchs, conquest/calcutta TE's and CV-Z's...i've serviced a few of these reels and seen first-hand where problems spots dev...

Re: Help in selecting a low profile salt water surf reel
call me a dinosaur, but I don't see how a wiffle spool or super free would help you much if you are surf casting wights like 2oz and up. If I go the revo route, I would choose the S instead. But if you don't care about the look, the old green curado is a proven winner. you can pick up a used one at...

Re: Help in selecting a low profile salt water surf reel
I'll be using between 8-12 lb. but most likely 10lb for the surf for 8-10# i'd go w/ the (green) curado 100B or the citica 100D. both are real easy to maintain and prove durable, plus wiffle spools are available for either. you could also go w/ the older curado 200B and BSF but i think they're both...

Re: Help in selecting a low profile salt water surf reel
I'll mostly be using it for salt and not fresh water. mainly targeting halibut from the surf.
