Re: Rod Weights

Micro, thanks for posting this. If anyone has the original, I recently weighed my TDZL701MXB (missing on the PDF) and it went 4.2 oz. on my postal scale.

Re: Whats your favorite All Purpose rod

I guess it depends what your "favorite" species is... mine is river smallmouths. My favorite all purpose rod has quickly become my custom St. Croix XS69MLXF. That's a good point. I fish a lot of river smallmouth although my river is a mile or two wide in most places. Yesterday I learned how versati...

Re: Whats your favorite All Purpose rod

Still searching.... I suppose my Kistler LTA HE 6'-9" MH is the closest I've had to this point, but I'm still looking for that elusive beast. My recent LE 7' MH will be close, but a little bit stout for that crown. I'm working with a Zillion 7' MXF for my Mr. Versatility, but I'm on the fence with i...

Re: St Croix LE 7' MH

Sounds like a fair assessment based on my experiences with St. Croix. I'm not too concerned about a little tip heaviness as I really am not slating this one for slack line techniques, and I know they tend to run on the stout side. I just looked at my lineup and realized I no longer had a rod with t...

St Croix LE 7' MH

Dose anyone have any experience with the 7" MH Legend Elite. I read JIP's review and it sounds like a nice all around bass rod. All of my bass rods are in the medium range and I had been thinking about a 7 footer with a little more power, and a very nice deal on a 7' MH LE popped up.

Re: swimjig hooksets help ?

Couple thoughts... - Short hits can sometimes be a hint to try a different trailer. Shorten it up, change color, change size... At times the best trailer is no trailer at all. - Agree completely on sweep set vs. a short snap set. May depend on the rod/line combo though? A rod with a lighter X-fast ...

Re: swimjig hooksets help ?

I fish the Mississippi about 10 miles from where swim jigs were first developed by T. Monsoor, and around here the standard practice is to use more of a "pressure set" of the hook, or in other words crank that reel as fast as you can and keep steady pressure on that fish. Sometimes that huge hookset...

Re: The Speed Spool Returns – Lew’s Tournament Pro Baitcaste

Nice review! I handled a Lew’s Tournament Pro Baitcaster at a shop the other day and I kept coming back to it because it just seemed so well put together. All of the "clickies" (tension knob, magnet dial, and drag star) were so crisp and worked so nicely, best in the shop and that included several w...
