Re: What do i "need"
You bring 8 rods?! That's a lot to lug around..when I go non boater I bring 3, a medium or a heavy jig rod, another medium casting rod for spinners/crankbaits, and a spinning rod for worms. The number of rods and the mix depends on the fishery. I usually bring seven...six B/C's and one spinning rod...

Re: What do i "need"
I also fish "back-of-the-boat" so I looked at your list with great interesr. The topic of list of rigs for back of the boat would be very interesting in itself, and maybe this thread can shift over to such a topic. I have never brought more than seven rods, and one must be very careful even with six...

Re: Best rods under $50?
If you need to buy online, the shipping costs may be substantial.
I believe TW will ship free if it's over $50.
I also suggest combing through Craig's List and maybe even some yard sales.

Re: Steeze sv
correcting my post, the righty number should be 103SH....
I left out the "S"

Re: Steeze sv
I was going to pose this question to begin a new thread, but it seems appropriate to ask it here. I acquired a used righty SS SV 103H and a used lefty SS SV 103SHL over the past month. The righty version, SSSV 103SH, has the Steez "brand" or logo on the very front of the reel. The front of the reel ...

Re: Equipment Related Pet Peeves
I'm a co-angler, fishing small mostly local tournaments in the back of the boat. There are times when neither the boater nor I are catching any fish. My pet peeve is a boater who doesn't ask me for suggestions on locations, etc. Very few boaters do that. I greatly appreciate those who do. A similar ...

Re: Garlic-Scented Plastics -- Any Good?
Lake Fork Baby Ring Fry is loaded with garlic and catches me a ton of fish every year. Maybe the bass I'm catching are Italian? I believe the Lake Fork lures have the greatest amount of garlic. The older Cabela's plastics we're also loaded. I've never done well with garlic-scented lures, and that's...

Re: Sufix Super 21 Mono
I had some time, and I was curious, so I called the Rapala VMC Corp. in Minnesota who own the Sufix brand. I connected with the Sufix expert who was very knowledgeable and helpful. He knew immediately what I was referring to when I mentioned the unusually high line test values for the low diameter l...

Re: Sufix Super 21 Mono
Have not seen this line discussed here. It caught my attention in the thread that I started on best crankbait line when one post said that he preferred the line. Looked it up on the Sufix site, and the spec that really surprised me was the small line diameter and the pound test. The "usual" mono an...

Re: Best line for crankbaits??
Sunline shooter, very manable. Thanks...but what test do you use for shallow and deep cranks? I guess I should have been clearer. For shallow cranks I actually use Sunline defier in 13 to 17 # depending on weight of lure and structure. For any thing deeper I use shooter 13 # line. Both these line a...

I wasn't familiar with the Super 21, so I did a little research, and began a separate thread on the the topic.Patex wrote:I use Sufix Super 21 in 13lb and 17lb mainly for shallow cranking between 1-8ft. I used this mono for a year now and very happy with it.
I'm going to buy some and try it.
