Re: Just ordered a NRX :)
Got the rod today :) I honestly can't believe I waited this long to get one...Damn now I know what I was missing. This rod is hands down the most sensitive rod I have used, IMO its way more sensitive then my GLX. The fit and finish is excellent, epoxy is perfect on the wraps, the cork grade is not a...

Re: Just ordered a NRX :)
Bummer to see JBcrankaddict, hope that rod got taken care of....crazy As for the guides themselves I have done a little research and still have not found a picture of one grooved guide (Black Pearl) not saying its not possible but if these guides have a excellent PVD coating (Physcial Vapor Depositi...

Re: Just ordered a NRX :)
I just started buying them last fall so I don't have any long term knowledge about the guides but the mix of REC and SIC guides kept me from buying one for a long time. After using them, I have no issues and admit that I should have tried one sooner. I use mostly fluoro though so passing a knot is ...

Just ordered a NRX :)
Just got a NRX 803s and am super excited, got it for a super damn good deal brand new :) I been holding off because I'm not a fan of recoil guides, I have never used them but hear storys of grooving and braking easy. I've seen pics of grooved guides on the internet, could it be that they were just b...

Re: Guides and performance
Has anyone had a issue with theres on a NRX? if so I would love to see a picture.
All the pictures I see on the internet are old.
So many say they have never seen or had problem then there is a few that won't touch them.

Re: old or new GLX
Just jumped on a NRX 803s, I could not resist the price.
As much as I hate recoil guides I guess I will have to deal with it

Re: Guides and performance
What about recoil guides, are there still problems with them?
I have seen pics and read some of the discussions about them.
Are the ones Gloomis uses any different (black coated)

Re: 2015 nrx upgrade the hook up tackle
BUMP
I just found this and had a few question myself.
What if I send in two rods for one NRX?
Also does it matter what shimano rods I send in? what if there really cheap shimano rods?

Re: old or new GLX
I don't like the new GLX spinning handles at all. What don't you like about them? I haven't held one, but they look comfortable. How do you hold your spinning rods? I usually put all my fingers in front of the reel. I really like the handles myself, I put my reel stem through my ring and pinky fing...

Re: old or new GLX
One other question, is the NRX being redesigned because I have found a lot of them cheaper then the GLX same spec models.
I would jump all over a NRX with SIC guides...

Re: old or new GLX
I have the GLX 853S JWR and its excellent in every way and goes excellent with my shimano stradic (balance) I recently got a Vanquish 3000 and it makes the rod unbalanced, not bad but enough to switch back to the stradic and purchase another GLX :big grin: I'm also considering the 802S JWR since thi...

old or new GLX
Thinking about picking up the GLX SJR 783 but at the same time I want the GLX 803s JWR
Do you think the older versions of the GLX are better then the new?
Please explain.

Re: Guides and performance
My Loomis 6'6" GLX 783S JWR (spinning rod) has only 6 guides + tip. Does that mean to save money they short changed me on guides OR because the blank is a stiffer MH (for a spinning rod) it doesn't flex enough to need any more guides to keep the line off the blank and running true? :-k The rod I wa...
