Re: New 2020 Shimano Metanium
When the Bantam came out, people complained that the line guide was too close to the spool, affecting casting distance. Looking at this new Metanium, looks like the line guide is much closer to the spool compared to the 16 Met MGL. Makes me wondering if this new Met will actually outperform our old ...

Re: Shimano Metanium mgl Brass Gears
Yes it is. The kits in stock at The Tackle Trap include the Carbontex drag stack for the upgrade. Metanium MGL Brass Gear Sets It does not have the 7.4 gear set in right game, just left hand. Yes true, I believe the pinion is on back order on the RH sets in that ratio. I wasn't sure whether you nee...

Shimano Metanium mgl Brass Gears
Hey, I'm sure someone has done this to one of their Metaniums, what are the part numbers? I have the 7.4 gear ratio. Is it the curado k drive gear and the metanium mgl pinion gear?
Thanks guys!

Re: Falcon Cara Head Turner Casting Rod
Hey ShimanoFan, Really enjoyed your post and I think your spot on. I try to buy American when I can. I have two sons that play baseball, they are 5 and 7. They use Nokona baseball gloves, the only baseball gloves made in the USA in Nocona, Texas. Sure, they were $230 a piece when everyone else is us...

Re: Falcon Cara Head Turner Casting Rod
Every rod is now outsourced except the cara. Word is when they release the new cara line they will also be outsourced. I wish I could source the 6’10 rod blanks to build on. You can. I source mine on ebay and craigslist all the time and every now and then I find them in pawn shops and I never pass ...

Re: Falcon Cara Head Turner Casting Rod
I'm surprised it's a do it all rod, what about hollow body frogs in sparse cover or open water? It kind of feels like an old IMX 844c rod I use to own.

Re: Gear ratio: 8 VS 7?
For bottom contact baits I like to use a 6 gear speed ratio actually. I use to use a 7 speed but for some reason when I was using the 6 gear I was catching more fish. I think the slower gear ratio slowed me down a little and allowed me to get more bites. I've had several 8 speed reels and I only lik...

Re: Rod Shipping
Yes, actually today, I went to ship a rod through FedEx and it was crazy high, like well over a $100. However, I cut the tube down as far as possible and got an estimate through USPS and it was $20. I think when you get over 90 inches for the l x w x h then they start charging a lot more, like a sur...

Re: Bantam MGL Who has their hands on one?
In the last month, I have casted the Metanium MGL, Chronarch MGL, and the Bantam MGL on the same rod using 30 pound braid on each, and I can cast further, with less effort using the Bantam MGL than the other two. It's a little heavier, but palms better and feels like a quality reel. Needless to say,...
