Re: Bass fishing versatility: stubbornness vs confidence
A very interesting topic. I'm pretty limited, and I'm happy with that. For example, for about 6 years from the late 90s to mid 2000s, I used ONLY topwater baits, mostly poppers and walkers, which are my confidence baits to this day. And, it was fun. In early 90s for 3 or 4 years, I threw jerkbaits ...

Re: What Other Species Have You Caught by Accident?
Love the surprise, as long as it's not in a tournament. The excitement to deflation is too much :-({|= . I don't love the surprise, but I have to admit this. I think it was in May in this year, when I set a hook, I knew it was a 7 or 8 pounder. In 10 or 15 seconds, I knew it wasn't bass. I thought ...

Pike, Musky, Walleye, Yellow Perch, Crappie, Blue Gill, Sunfish, White Bass, Wipers, Channel/Blue/Flathead Catfish, and Drum. I recently caught a 38" Pike on a Frog skipping docks. A couple of years ago, I caught a 29" 8.5lb walleye on a 5" Yamamoto Saltwater Series Swimbait. On a Brush Hog, I caugh...

Re: Help diagnosing SV 103 issues
Make sure that your spool and all other bearings are lubed. I use Alchemy Oil Medium Light on all of my SV103 spool bearings and I get good distance with control. They are great for skipping. If you aren't cleaning and lubing your reels regularly, they will feel over-braked and not feel smooth. All...

Bass fishing versatility: stubbornness vs confidence
In this day and age with so many boats on the water. And for those of you that fish tournaments the need to be able to adjust quickly. I'm curious as to how many of you really believe you are versatile vs just having a tackle addiction? And how many believe in a just few techniques and whether your ...

Re: Help diagnosing SV 103 issues
I have 9 SV103s and have experienced the exact thing to you are talking about on my frog reel. I think it was the shaft bearings. I ended up soaking the and cleaning the anti-reverse and shaft bearing. Took care of my issue. I've had mine for so long I'm considering ordering all new frame bearings ...

Help diagnosing SV 103 issues
I have a 7.9 SV 103 that during a tournament yesterday started feeling like there was binding and resistance while working a frog. When looking at the worm gear, it didn't appear to be anything there. I don't mind cleaning reels, but I guess have been fortunate that I haven't experienced really any ...

Good to know. I've been running YGK for a couple years and it sinks dreadfully slow.
