Re: Megabass Daemos hook set

All, is there a different way I should set the hook on Megabass rods? I have been fishing the Daemos throwing Texas rig worms but I’ve been missing a ton of fish. I’m use to Dobyn’s champion and Kistler KLX. Should I wait to set the hook like a frog? You might want to tex pose your hook if you are ...

Thanks for the feedback guys. I figure I will pick up a few different rods and figure out what works the best for me. I will keep you posted on the rods I pick up and test out.

Re: Punching Rods....Help me find the one.

Take a look at the shimano expride 1711XH. It's a beast of a rod and a great for punching. It's also very durable, no issues in my mind to make some huge hooksets with this rod. On the other hand, if you enjoy snapping rods on the hookset, the warhammer or other MB offerings might be a good choice....

Hah! of course you replied as I was typing up that lengthy response    ... check it out, hope it helps ;) And btw.. the Warhammer will handle what you described as your punching scenario... I was more concerned in situations with the floating vegetation that the rod is too fast and w...

Re: Punching Rods....Help me find the one.

When you're punching, are you in the camp that prefers something more moderate, or do you want something super stiff and fast tapered? Sorry about that. I should have been more specific. I will be throwing a 1oz weight with hook and creature bait. I need to power the fish out after the hookset so I...

Punching Rods....Help me find the one.

I'm looking for a punching rod. So far I have used a couple top contenders. I have used the NRX 916 and the Megabass warhammer. So those are both out because I would like to go another route. I would like to keep my rod cost at $800.00 or below. So come on guys give me some options please.

Re: What to replace the Dobyns Xtrasy 755c with?

I would look at the bottom contact also. It's really a special rod as far as being light and balanced and excellent sensitivity. I use it strictly for football jigs 1/4 to 1/2oz with trailers. You will not be disappointed.

Steez Bottom Contact. I've been looking at it for a while now.
The Bottom Contact is a killer rod. If you get the chance I would snatch one up.

Anyone here feel that zero adjusters on steez A are more loose and move easy?
I agree. The steez A adjuster is easier than the new tatula by far to adjust. I don't mind the adjuster. I just loosen it up and go.

Re: Frog and Punch rod suggestions

The destruction 70 is a great rod. It can handle both duties well. It's balanced well also. I purchased it to punch and walk hollow bodied frogs from shore. I have used 3/4 and 1oz tungsten punching weights with it and it handled the weights fine. It's a fun rod for those duties.
