Re: Poll: Do you tape your Wiffle Spool with Teflon tape?

How could it "defeat the purpose"? The tape sits ON TOP of the holes, so it replaces line, not the metal that was taken from inside the holes

Re: Need help buying A Daiwa baitcaster

Daleo, the Viento's use of the original MagForce (as opposed to the TD-X's MagForce V and the Advantage's Magforce Z) takes it out of contention in terms of performance for an all-around reel. My small hands agree with the TD-X's profile better than that of the Advantage for casting. I can't say for...

Re: 6' or 6'6" Med Action Baitcast Rod Question

Great reference, Dan. Oddly enough, however, BPS seems to go out of their way to get everything mixed up, even taking the power rating of companies that provide specs for rod action and putting them down as action! Outside that article, they systematically use the term ACTION to describe a rod's POW...

Re: Sufix Performance Braid

I've had great results with braid using a double Uniknot. Simply use a double line to tie your Uni. Will NOT slip, and the line will break anywhere but at the knot. I've stopped looking since I don't see how a knot could be any better than that. It's not nearly as bulky as I expected when looking at...

Re: Rod action - Extra fast, fast, medium fast, regular, slo

Can't see how using a system like the RDA would make some rods look better or worse. Is more power "better"? Is faster "better"? All good rod companies have a wide range of power and action, don't they? RDA sure helps if you want to have a custom rod build just the way you like, whatever power and a...

Re: YELLOW ROCKET FUEL LUBE?

Eagleye, Yellow Rocket Fuel is somewhat thicker than Hot Sauce and will actually require LESS maintenance. I'm not sure which lube Daiwa includes with the CVZ; the Daiwa oil viscosities will vary (the oil that comes with TDZ, for instance, is very thin), but quality-wise, they're all excellent. =D>

Re: WHICH BAITCASTING REEL CAN CAST THE FURTHEST?

Shtuka, Just to add a bit to the discussion (but much too long to post), you might want to take a peek at the Baitcasting 201 article on my site: http://pages.videotron.com/fishing/ As the proud inheritor of Sandman's Morrüm, I wholeheartedly agree with his assesment of it's performance, but you ...

Just don't give up too soon, Mrgadget. Those lefties can feel pretty odd when you first use them, but if you stick to it, you may wind up loving the unusual arrangement; I sure do!

Re: super braid

Shimanoman, I believe the coating is put on superlines to give them more body. It does prevent them from tangling in your guides so much and makes them less susceptible to air knots. But I'd rather be more careful how I fish and live with the occasional rod wrap and get more distance using TUF line ...

Re: TD Sol baitcaster or Shimano Chronarch 50mg?

Kevin, don't worry if Zander doesn't happen to answer. Your "1/4oz jighead with a grub on it" adds up to 3/8 of an ounce. That kind of weight you can cast a mile :^o with any old ABU C3! I'm pretty sure you can cast lures weighing half that much for a good distance with a Sol.

Re: DaveJ's pot of gold

One important thing you guys forgot: MB lures are a great treatment for cabin fever! When you get up in the morning and find another foot of snow came down overnight, MBs can be lifesavers. A two minute fondling session and you're ready to go. The only side effect is getting drool all over yourself....
