Re: Drop shot reel
I think it depends on what line size you will be using. I drop shot with either braid or Berkley Nanofil with around 4-6 pound mono diameter. This works perfect for me on a 2500 size daiwa reel and 7' rod. If I were using line with an 8-10 pound diameter then I would probably choose a 3000 size.

My calcutta conquest 200 with a 7'2 med/heavy cumara worm rod. I can throw just about anything without a treble hook with this setup.

Re: Met. MGL Micro Module Smoothness?
I just had a similar experience with one of my new curado's. I recently purchased 4 of the 200PG. 3 are buttery smooth but 1 was grinding right out of the box. Whatever is causing it is inside the gearbox. I can take the spool of the other reels and they still feel smooth, I do the same thing with t...

Here is the new Shimano Sustain that will premiere at ICAST. Hopefully it's an improvement over the current model.

Re: Daiwa ICAST 2017 (2018 products)
Not a reel per say but Daiwa is now the rod and reel sponsor of Mark Zona. I enjoy watching the Zona show but I could care less about who spongers him or what rods and reels he uses. I learned long ago not to listen to pro anglers on what to buy. If I did I would have 2 rod lockers full of quantums...

Re: Daiwa BG feedback
I have a 1500 size. Seems solid as a tank, I believe it is all aluminum body and side plates. Very smooth, a little heavy for size. I have only had it a couple months so can not comment on long term durability. I like the Airbail system which this reel does not have but overall I am pleased with th...

Daiwa BG feedback
Anyone using this reel? I might pick up a couple but I wanted a few of your opinions. This review was a fun read. According to the writer the BG is in his list of top 5 best spinning reels of all time. It is smoother than reels costing much more, has bearings similar to a Stella and only cost around...

Re: Spinning reel handle stem question...
Some company's will not cover reels bought online at non official retailers. Call them and ask, if they no I wouldn't be too upset since you got a great deal on it.

Re: Spinning reel handle stem question...
Daiwa has had issues with this in the past, the first gen certates were notorious for chipping badly. I would send it back to Daiwa at the end of the season.

Re: Grease and oil preferences
Daiwa Molybdenum Grease, for my high end reel gears. This is the best grease I have ever used, unfortunately Daiwa doesn't sell it any more. Ebay is probably the only place to find it. Penn reel grease for my cheaper stuff, this grease is great even though it doesn't get much hype. Bantam oil for st...

Re: Goodbye Gander Mountain
Gander will be missed, one of my favorite stores for finding good deals on lures. I just bought 4 curado's for $100 each at their going out of business sale.
