Re: Shallow 6XD

Shave the lip down with a Dremel or sand paper. Might even be able to melt the lip into a different angle.

Or try this bait out.

I can't say I've ever seen a green bamboo rod. No idea though.

Re: Dobyns Extreme feedback Positive and Negative

I haven't had any issues with the cork on my DX rods. The best out of the bunch is the DX702 I bought used here from a guy who had sealed it. I really should do that to all my cork rods. The two Gen1 rods I have (a 703 and 805CBRM) are so disgustingly pitted though. The non-cork parts of the rod hav...

Re: Revenge spinnerbaits wat a disappointment

Damn, it's weird hearing that about my favorite spinnerbait. Over the last few years, I've use the Deep Runners the most. You have to bend them back after a couple of fish but that's just been how all spinnerbaits fish for me. Have you tried the regular Revenge baits? They should be right in between...

To kill time during work :)

ETA: I also like that the focus is on tackle and not fishing reports. I hate fishing reports!

Re: Plastic swim baits...??

I'm a really big fan of the Big Hammer baits. My TW order from today included 10 packs of them! :D You can fish them on the Hammer Head jig heads if you're in open water. These heads are cheap (there are cheaper options but I don't really like them) and have an exposed hook for easier hook setting. ...

Re: I need help finding a good wake bait.

The Zero versions of the Megabass Griffin and Baby Griffin are good. The Lucky Craft 2 piece one by Rick Clunn was good too. The Jackall Mikey Jr, I didn't care much for. It caught a lot of fish when I had it but it was just hard getting it to wake.

Re: Daiwa Presso Value

How did the Presso fit into the Daiwa line? Was it pre Pixy or just another Alphas version? No it's essentially a Pixy but tuned more for lighter baits and lighter lines. Japantackle has pretty much every JDM reel with descriptions and even sometimes commentary on their website. Even the discontinu...

Re: Shakyhead Rod?

DX702. You can add a "C" to the end of that if you want the casting version. Both the spinning and casting versions of the rod are off the same blank and excellent for a variety of lighter techniques in addition to shakeyheading.

Re: BFS pt 1 : BFS vs UL spin, which side is Darker?

Haha hey Dale, That's exactly my point, I've seen a lot of anglers casts in massive whiplash casts. I do that and I see a knot on my first guide. I used to casts out flossed up balls of line too but I fixed that. With BC gear the only time I get badly birdsnested is on a bank and the lure catches o...

Re: 30 lb braided main line suggestion...???

I've never snapped off the 30lb main line while using a leader in that 6-8' range. I have, however snapped off when tying straight 30lb and fishing in rocks. Rocks are sharp and spectra is thin I guess. :( For hooksets, just do whatever works for you. With the setup you're using, you can use a softe...

Re: Light weight reel for topwater and jerkbaits...???

I borrowed my friends Core for about a month and it was amazing at fishing these types of baits. I fish primarily Daiwas though. From the reels I own, I usually fish a Coastal for the heavier baits like Rudras and Super Spooks. Once I get in the 3/8-5/8 range, I fish either a Sol or a Alphas R-Editi...

Re: Megabass XX vs. Dobyns Extreme

I didn't get along with the slim EVA handles. I also thought the X4 guides (particularly the X4 Destruction) were WAAAAAAY TOO BIG! The X4 actions didn't jive with my fishing style that well either... I feel like you need to approach the max lure weight to get the rod to load properly. To the OP: I...
