Re: BFS Calcutta Conquest - casting

Aldebaran BFS has same spool as Conquest BFS. Still new CT Steez surpassed BFS Shimano with stock spool. I’m sure the new steez cast light baits very well but I doubt it does as well as the Shimano BFS reels, but hey I could be wrong. Tested it myself. Same rod, same line, same lure. 2,6g cra...

Re: BFS Calcutta Conquest - casting

It is definitely doable and you should have your best results with some kind of super line, 6 or 8lb braid, Nanofil, nanobraid, Gliss are all good candidates and all have there positive and negatives about them. For baits that light a medium action super ultralight rod would serve you well, somethin...

Re: BFS and PowerPro

Glad to hear you are happy with the 8#, I think braid that size is the ideal BFS line. I have used lots of differing lines over the years but 8# power pro is my go to.

That Warmouth would be a state record here in Maryland

Re: BFS and PowerPro

Hello all, new to this BFS fishing. I noticed there are a couple of different versions of PowerPro braid, is there one that is more desired? Yes I know it's personal sometimes....but. Hello and welcome to the expensive world of BFS =D> as for braids its definitely personal preference and they all h...

Re: BFS and PowerPro

Thank you, E78. I've already switched to PP 8#. Although I haven't tried it yet PP-#8 seems to be about perfect for my use, and why compromise with a Conquest BFS? I'll use the PP#15 on another reel. I have the Conquest BFS, the 101 and the original 101DC and I have to agree Round Reels are the Bes...

Re: Lets see all them Daiwa's

That’s a good looking reel and for me any reel with a Alphas frame is worth having and upgrading I'm the same way. I bought mine "used" from an eBay seller in Japan and whoever had it before barely used it, if at all, and upgraded the handle and knobs. I took it a step further and added some hedgeho...

Re: nanofil upgrade

Ok from my experiences Gliss is a little better than Nanofil when it comes to durability but not much, now for castability I think gliss is hands down much better. If you do try gliss just know if its half as strong as its rated. So if you want #20 line get 40, I mean under perfect conditions I'm su...

Re: BFS and PowerPro

I use 8lb powerpro on almost all my BFS reels but 2, 1 has 12lb Gliss and the other has 5lb Sunline Sniper but the other 4 have the powerpro. To answer your question, yes it will cast better with 8lb than it does with the 15.

There's a restaurant somewhere in Nebraska where you will find people waiting in a line around the block for carp. It looked breaded and fried to me. I'm pretty sure you have to use a pressure cooker because of all the bones.
BFS Carp fishing ??? I would imagine getting spooled a lot

Re: Talk me off the ledge please

The XF-50 is a good solid reel and I also have the Dragon rod but in 5' and love the action and feel of it, I think you made a good choice on a budget minded combo.

Daiwa all the way
I'm with you, I want to like Shimano better and used to but I find myself owning and using Daiwa's way more.
