I am going to be fishing Lake El Salto for Three days at the end of January :D :D :D .

What lures and color do I need to take? What size slip sinkers? What type worm rod do I need to take? How many rods? lb. pound test? Help me in general. Thanks!

Agreed 100%. Granted, I've only fished Guerrero and Comedero but the patterns worked out the same one both lakes so it should work on El Salto. Also make sure you bring topwater baits to throw in the morning.

Hey man I just got back from El Salto. I try and go about twice a year.

For sure must have lures are:

5",6",7" Senkos in watermelon black and watermelon red flake
8" Zoom Pumkin Lizards, 8" Zoom Watermelon red flake Lizards
Reaction Innovation Skinny Dipper in Hemotoma and dirty sanchez
Reaction Innovation Big dipper in Spanish Fly
White Rico 1/2oz Poppers
White Walk the dog type lure I prefer Paycheck bait's Repo man in white
1/2 oz rattle traps in chrome/blue
1/2 oz and 3/4 oz Bomber fat free shads in citrus shad
DD22 Cranks in shad and bluegill patterns
1.5 and 2.5 KVD cranks in bluegill and sexy shad
some 5" and 6" paddle tails in shad and bluegil
1/2 oz white spinnerbaits
1/2oz black and blue jigs
10" inch black and blue power worms
Jerkbaits in 5" bluegill pattern

Terminal tackle I use
4/0, 5/0, 6/0, Gammy wide gap superline hooks
tungston bullet weights in 1/4 oz, 1/8 oz, and 3/16 oz
20lb mono I prefer Izorline (all the guides comment on the strength of the line)
20lb fluoro for shallow to medium cranking
12-15lb fluoro for extra deep cranking.

For rods I mainly use Dobyns...
for plastics I use 743c DX, 744c DX, and 795c DX down there
for top water I use the 735c Champion
for big crankning I the 805c RM Champion
shallow to medium cranking I use the 705cb Glass Champion

have fun out there, I hope you are staying at Anglers Inn all the other lodges can't hold a candle to it. Trust me I found out the hard way this year and ended up begging to stay there and paying for my vacation twice just to be happy.

El Salto. can be extremely clear this time of year. Fish will be bedding under any type of cover, like bushes.

Take Tilapia colors and Threadfin shad.
Shakey Jigs, rigged weedless
Maddoglures
