VanDam DQ'd

Post by Foofer » Tue Mar 28, 2006 6:10 am

At first I thought this may be an April fools joke in the making, but I guess it's the real deal. If you have KVD on your fantasy fishing team, you better dump him before this weekends action begins.

That's a little harsh for having the non-boater driving the boat. However, I bet because someone turned him in, they had no other choice.

I mean, at least he's not swearing and breaking things on his boat and
throwing an american flag into the drink.

I can kinda understand why they have this rule . It makes sense, and even though he broke it un-knowingly they still have to enforce it.

It seems to be a silly rule!! What difference does it make to the outcome of a tournament - it's only pre fishing??? Or does the rule just have to do with liability for the tournament organizers??? But I suppose a rule is a rule. It seems to me to be a very extreme penalty for such a trivial infraction. If he had to be punished couldn't they have given him a weight penalty of a pound or two?? To DQ the amateur is a further example of silliness or intransigence - especially because he was probably just doing as he was asked by the Pro. Someone ought to tell them to use their heads for more than separating their ears!!! Make the punishmant fit the "crime". That's how I see it anyway!! Regards,-Shimanoman

If they cut him slack, they would have to cut everyone slack. It is definitely a fairly small thing to get DQ'd for...but he did break the rules.

frogpond11;- But why hump the amateur as well?? That seems to be very heavy handed- A bit like using an atomic bomb to kill a fly. In my opinion, anyway. Regards,-Shimanoman

I agree with you Shimanoman. Any amateur would pretty much do anything a pro, especially KVD, ask them to do. I guess the flip side of it would be that if a pro gained an advantage, so would the amateur. I wonder if VanDam offered to reimburse his co-angler's entry fee??? After all, he is the pro

I realize this is an unpopular observation around here, but they shouldn't be sight fishing the spawn in the first place. Cruising around looking for bedding females isn't what separates the "World's Best Fishermen" from a smuck like me. :?
