Winter fishing

Post by Lefty3244 » Wed Jan 07, 2015 10:51 am

I'm looking for some advice. Me and a buddy fish highland reservoirs that are pretty clear (5-10 feet of visibility) and catch pretty decent number of fish most of the year. Once the water gets in that 45 degree range it's like the Dead Sea. Our lakes primarily have spotted bass and few largemouth. I've had a little success with float and fly but was hoping to pick y'all's brains a bit for some other techniques to try. We fish tubes, drop shot, and shakey heads majority of the year and I read a lot about those techniques working well in winter but haven't had much success. When water gets to this temperature range what kinds of areas do you look to fish? 45 degree and steeper rocky banks? Deep creek channels? Always willing to try new things and hoping to extend my fishing season. The water never freezes over here and about as low as I've seen it is 42-43. Do we just need to wait to fish the 3rd day of a warming trend?
