Pixy Rod....Anyone else have one? 1 Available!!

Post by Nautilus » Wed Sep 12, 2007 2:58 pm

Mine just came in and I was wondering how many of these are out there?? For all you Pixy lovers, this seems to be the perfect rod and its not as light powered as one would think. 6'6", clicking reel seat, split grip, its got everything! Now I need to find me a yellow/black model Pixy for the perfect matching combo. I sold my orange Pixy years ago......I miss it and the experience will be even better with the rod to boot! If you are wondering what rod to use with your Pixy and can find one of these babies.....I think it takes the cake for that particular range of apps.

Who else has one of these and what do you think about it? The reel seat is designed like the Steez rods but it was made pre-Steez era so it could be the prototype for the line, for lack of a better word. There is an orange model too(Hood ;) ).

Pictures please.........

I've been using a Fantasista Yabi for mine and absolutely love it. 6'5" light power, regular action. The orange color of the Yabi isn't a spot on match to my orange Pixy...but I can live with it.

However, your Pixy rod sounds very interesting....................

Well, thanks for the pics, I don´t want one.

That screw in foregrip is going to scratch the reel foot of my reel and I don´t want that to happen, they are still going to be paired to the CR721 & 722, gotta think more about that Fantasista for that rodless Pixy I´ve got.

Unless someone knows different, the last of the Pixy rods were just pulled out of the Daiwa warehouse this year. So, there must have been a few made. I also couldn't find anyone that ever saw any other than the rods made to match the orange Pixy. I mailed the usual vendors, and they said no. For what it's worth.

Also, they said the last RH yellow Pixy's left the warehouse this year, but there are LH still there. I think it was Plat that mailed me that.

That's good to know.
I'm going to be looking for a yellow LH here soon and having a custom to match built for it. 8-)

Nautilus.
That is a super sweet looking rod. It will make an excellent weightless finesse setup. :evil22:

Nautilus:

So are the thread wraps yellow on the rod? They look to match the amber/orange better.

They are yellow for sure.....I had to ask the same thing because of the photo exposure. He has one more in the same color scheme. If I wanted an orange one, I'd probably get the Presso rod.....almost the same but more color, I have it and love it just as much......in fact, it was what made me pursue its cousin the Pixy rod. The Presso rod is an ultralight whereas the Pixy rod is a crisp Medium/Light.

T, I am getting a custom from Otterrod for a yellow Pixy. You know what you are looking for, looks wise?

Nautilas, I have to disagree, not that much though. I just went out and checked my rods and the wrap is accurately displayed in your pic. The rod is a 2004 model, the same as the orange, and made to match the orange ( according to the dealer). I put a orange up to the thread, and it matched perfect. But, I then put a yellow on it and the yellow pulled out a yellowish tint. I think the color is orange, but has some yellow tones. Either way, both reels looked good. I think the orange looks much better,as it is not so bright. But thats personal opinion.

Jeez, I never used to be this anal.
