Revo Premier as enthusiast tackle?
Revo Premier as enthusiast tackle?
After using the Revo Premier in both the 2009 and 2010 versions AND the Daiwa TD Z 103 series of reels, I would rate them as near comparable. With that in mind, it's my opinion, the Revo Premier should be elevated to enthusiast level.
1. Although the TD Z has the cosmetic advantage, the Revo is saltwater safe. A definite plus for brackish-water anglers who no longer need two sets of reels.
2. The Revo has a superior drag in terms of both smoothness and maximum drag capability.
3. In the pre-2010 Revo, the Magforce brake was definitely superior. The dual braking system in the 2010 Revo brought casting to stress free levels.
4. Quality of components? Daiwa scores higher based upon less dependence on plastic parts.
Thanks

I also agree. It can run with some of the best.
Re: Revo Premier as enthusiast tackle?
I think high end, rare, limited edition, hard to acquire and collectible tackle better exemplifies Enthusiast Tackle.
Even if you thought the Premier was the best reel in production it wouldn't necessarily qualify it as Enthusiast Tackle.

The revo premier does not qualify as enthusiast tackle. It is so easy to acquire. /T

Re: Revo Premier as enthusiast tackle?
I think the Premier 2010 is excellent, but not in the same category with the TDZs. TDZs are time-tested and can still compare with the best of the best.

Then we shouldn't consider the new Loomis as enthusiast tackle either, correct?Redfish wrote:x3bstuckey wrote:X2vArm wrote:I think high end, rare, limited edition, hard to acquire and collectible tackle better exemplifies Enthusiast Tackle.

Re: Revo Premier as enthusiast tackle?
I am still upset because Gander had the Revo spinning reels on sale for $99 dollars and were gone by the time I logged in to buy one(or two)
Re: Revo Premier as enthusiast tackle?
I'm not sure I'd call the NRX "enthusiast"...nor the new Legend Elites with NSi resin. I'd certainly call them high end tho. Contrast those two with the Evergreen stuff...rarity and all...Johnny A wrote:Then we shouldn't consider the new Loomis as enthusiast tackle either, correct?Redfish wrote:x3bstuckey wrote:

To each his own...these types of classification are often fluid and context sensitive.
