very nice find, also keep an eye out on reel lots. i've found several gem reels listed under reel lot. add this to a bad pic and it takes a keen eye to see the hidden gems.

They ARE special

I know exactly what that spool is - it is a ZPI RC-001 Racing Red spool. I fell into two of them and have them in each of my Custom I'ze red reels. I also picked up the Legend Blue for my TDZ 100 M custom blue black.

I have 3 ITO's with them - one with lime green, one with Green, and one with PURPLE - it's an RC-002 - didn't make it in 001. Also have a couple more, that will be going in for sale section after christmas.

The orange Pixy spool is the Ultra rare CP-301 magnesium spool by ZPI.

OH well - looked it up - nice spool, but I like mine better - more line capacity - not much of a finesse fisherman - but NICE FIND anyway.

That CP-301 spool is incredibly rare and amazing to fish. I have one in a 2003 Orange Pixzilla that I fish quite a bit. They generally fetch a substantial price alone and deservedly so!

The Blue Emblem pictured in the nicked up Type R is worth way more than the reel itself  It's by far my favorite ZPI spool, and also one of the rarest spools they made. I can understand why you'd be upset to miss it Craig, but I might know where you can find one ;) :big grin:

I have a CP-301 spool in a yellow pixy..one of my favorite reel/spool combos :)

As for the Blue Emblem in that Type R.. I saw that auction and was going to bid, but wasn't there a nick in the corner of it? Maybe I was thinking of another one.. Also, I though the Blue Emblem spool was for the TDZ-100 and not the 103? Or was there one of each size? I've wanted one of those for a while now..

I don't know about the BE at auction - I have my quota of them already

The "true" Blue Emblem (photo left) is fits TD-Z 103/105, Steez, and Megabass IS reels. It does not properly fit the TD-Z 100m. There is another obscure, close cousin of the Blue Emblem that does in fact fit the TD-Z 100m, Zillion, and Fuego reels (photo right). Here is a side by side comparison. These are clearly different, and perform differently than the "flat bottom" RC-001 or RC-002 spools most commonly seen from ZPI...

I haven't gotten into swapping spools out on my reels yet, but I am thinking about getting some for my Revo's and one for my Morrum.... Dunno what I would get yet because I don't know what rod I'm gonna put that Morrum yet....
