Why expensive tackle

Post by Abass88lb » Tue Jan 29, 2013 4:12 pm

I see that a lot of folks here have some crazy expensive gears. Are you guys tournament fishermans or just weekend warriors with a taste for fine equipment? Ever since I joined this site I've bought gears which I never would have consider buying in the past and I don't even fish tournaments.

I’m a gear junkie, I need my fix or I’ll go more insane than normal (whatever normal is?). All kidding aside you’ll pretty much find all folks from the walk of life on TT. Once bitten by the tackle monkey your life will change forever, there is no known cure besides death. Welcome to the dark side.

Weekend warrior.

Sometimes I am kidding with my frds that I am a "tackler" rather than an "angler".

I go fishing becos I wanna use/play/test my tackles, rather than I use my tackles becos I wanna catch fish. Am I mad? :laugh1:

Yes....yes, you are! But you are in good company, what with all of us "rowing the same boat", so to speak. ;) ;)

I've been a Daiwa fanatic a long time. I remember mowing yards all summer to buy the latest and greatest reel available from Daiwa. Back then, well before the advent of the internet, I thought it was strange that I was the only one of my fishing buddies that was so fanatical about my rods and reels.

I found this site in 2004 and saw the TD Ito and the rest, as they say, is history. 1 TD Ito, 4 Steez reels, 1 Alpha Ito, 1 TDZ 100, 3 Zillion reels, 3 Pixies, 2 Sol reels, 1 T3, 1 Fuego reel, 4 Steez rods, 4 Zillion rods, 2 Cielo rods, 1 Fuego rod, and of course a super destroyer to match the TD Ito etc...This site has cost me a small fortune but I LOVE IT..

I don't fish a lot of tournaments, preferring instead to fish primarily for the relaxation and solitude that comes with trying to match wits with a little green or brown fish. I choose to use high end tackle because to me the rods and reels are not so much tools for a job, but functional works of art, and I treat them that way. When not fishing I am usually cleaning a reel or rod, making baits in the basement, or surfing fishing related sites on the internet. This way I feel like I am somehow connected to the sport I love.

Besides the bait monkey makes me do it...LOL

Regards
Daiwafan

Aside from spending time with my family, fishing is my favorite activity in life. Using nice gear when I go fishing greatly enhances my enjoyment of the sport.

For me it's like porn. I like to look, but I am realistic that if I am gonna play, so to speak, I have to temper my expectation of the gear that I get to use.
For me it's all about the f******. That's fishing. Get you mind out of the gutter...

Why $150K cars?

Why $18K bicycles?

Why $1000 pair of shoes?

Why $5000 suits?

Why $200 hammers?

Why $500 (each) tires for your car?

Why not? ;)

Guys actually fish on this site and not just stare at their gear?
Why buy high end gear? Cause we can! 8-)
I fish a ton of tournies and work for great companies, for the last 7 years.
I'm a reel junkie :evil22:
