Other than the DC, is the differences one over the other?

The Cardiff DC has a really shallow spool compared to the Calcutta 50. Price is quite a bit more too :D

Calcutta 50 CTE (no longer available) has a deeper spool, stamped handle, non clicking drags star and CC knob. Actually they are great little reels ( Basically the US version of the JDM Conquest w/ 11+1 bearings). Retailed for around $340 USD when still being made.
no pix on link but read description and specs:

B Calcutta version is still available I believe and retails for around $190.

Cheaper version of the CTE with plastic line guide and fewer bearings. Have not fished one so I cannot say how it compares to the CTE 50.

Cardiff 50S is basically a silver color Conquest 50S with a DC (or a scaled down version of the Calcutta 100DC with a shallow spool and 4 DC settings w/ 10+1 bearings)

I have both a USDM Calcutta CTE50GT and a JDM version of the CT50B. The difference between the JDM 50B and the USDM is the number of bearings, the JDM has 8+1 while the USDM is 3+1, biggest difference is the US version is gold and uses a bushing instead of a bearing on the spoolshaft and the JDM is silver with gold accents. IMHO,the 50B is a workhorse reel for the money, while the CTE50GT has all the bling of the JDM Conquest, sans the holes on the sideplate. I got a great deal on my JDM 50B when Plat.co had them in their garage sale, I can't remember the total for sure but I think it was around $150 shipped.

i dont think the Calcutta B is the cheaper version of the CTE...different tooling so different reels.

would you believe that a Millionaire CVX-103 has more interchangeable parts with a Pixy, than can be interchanged between a Calcutta 50B and a CTE-50GT?

to the OP's question, besides the DC there is a significant level of refinement between a Cardiff 50S which is a JDM niche reel (translation = high yen) and a standard, plain jane Calcutta 50B.

the Cardiff 50S shares tooling w/ the Conquest 50.
