Deps DR-100ZX Question

Post by bnl » Sat Dec 14, 2013 1:38 am

I picked up a Deps DR-100ZX and I have a question about modifying this reel.

I don't know anything about modifying the internal workings of reels, so this may be a dumb question... Can you modify the drag system of this reel to make it a standard adjustable drag?

I will definitely find uses for the reel as is with the locked down drag. But I think it could be great to have the ability to convert it to give the reel more flexibility.

Any input on this modification topic would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

leave as be ;) could turn into nightmare....design is for heavy cover fishing. I have a couple of them, perfect for flippin' and froggin' The perfect match is the Roman made things model.

I've wondered if a drag adjustment mod could be easily done, but I bought it knowing it was locked and have fished it according to it's design. Even if I could, I wouldn't on this one...

Very nice pairing I'm sure =D>

I've paired the DR-100ZXL with the Evergreen Kaleido Inspirare Super Stallion Black and it's lovely on that rod as well 8-)

I have a question from a different angle. How do you take a Zillion and swap the drags for the locked ZX?

I think you'd have to swap the entire gear sets between the 2 reels, but I need to see the schematics to be sure.

I really think I need one of these for my SRD, punching grass on Guntersville. Don't need no stinking drag.

I've been eyeing this reel for punching too... But if there was a way to convert a regular Zillion, I'd be all in!

I've been tightening drags all the way down on Zillions for years and there isn't much left. I just really want a Deps DR-100ZX.

Yup. I have two, love them both. I use one for frogging and one for heavy cover pitch/flip

No crazy about the 7.9-1. Reason I'd rather just do a convention.
