ENTRY LEVEL
ENTRY LEVEL
What was your first two ENTHUSIAST reels, casting and spinning or casting/ casting or spinning / spinning?
And with todays reels what would you suggest as an entry level enthusiast reel?

Re: ENTRY LEVEL
Scorpion 1000xt, relatively lightweight, inexpensive and performs better than alot of reels that cost a lot more.

Re: ENTRY LEVEL
Metallic Red I'ZE Personal Order TD-Z 103H
NIB TD-ITO 103M
Then I bought a super rare KTF airy red pixy.... and it was all down hill from there
My choices as an entry level enthusiast reel would be two classics from Daiwa and one from Shimano.
1) Alphas. Any variant, but particularly the R- Edition.
2) Any color pixy. Particularly the Airy red, but any would be great.
3) Shimano Conquest 50. Built like a tank and a blast to fish.
Another great "starter" enthusiast reel would be a standard TD-Z 103 with upgraded bearings and drag. Makes for a killer somewhat enthusiast reel that you don't have to be afraid to fish! Plus there are a TON of upgrades that can be done.

Re: ENTRY LEVEL
Alphas Ito 103L was my first enthusiast level gear. That was enough for the darkside to take over.

Re: ENTRY LEVEL
First JDM was the burgundy Scorp 1000, and then a TDZ....years of 1999 and 2000 IIRC.
Entry level now?
Shimano: Calais/Antares, Metanium (previous gens) or Chronarch (D gen or prior), Conquest, Calcutta
Daiwa: TDZ, Alphas/Sol, Pixy, Millionaire CVX/CVZ variants
Spinning is a whole other ball of wax.

Re: ENTRY LEVEL
1) Stella 1000FE
2) BNIB TD-Ito 103m and BNIB M-Ito 103 bought at the same time.
I think every enthusiast should own a TD-Ito so it's a great place to start. So is a Megabass IS series amazingly good reels with just the right amount of bling. For spinning a JDM Luvias or Certate are amazingly good lower end enthusiast or a Shimano Vanquish for something nicer. Stella for a work of art I don't think anyone who has ever bought a Stella regretted it.

Re: ENTRY LEVEL
1) Daiwa Certate 2500r Custom
2) Evergreen Opus 1
I'd say the best way to go enthusiast if youre starting off today would probably be a used Ito or tdz r+ theres some sweet deals to be had on some sexy reels.
