What in the heck kind of spool is that in the second to last pic? Looks kinda like that one ardent flipping reel's spool. Either that, or I am seeing it wrong.

That is designed to be a jigging reel for squid and cuttlefish.

Those pics got me excited, but just a little.

I think it has the narrow jigging spool. The handle on the special edition suggests it is a specialised jigging reel also.

'14 conquest 100/101 is one of my favorite reels right now.....absolute stunner to look at AND to fish with....bravo shimano, well done!

That black special edition CQ looks awesome. Hopefully, a regular spool can be fitted in it and it can be used for casting as well.

I promised myself no more reels...But looking at that special edition Conquest is killing me......Beautiful reels.

Anybody know how braid does on the new Conquests? Any issues?

no problems at all..i used 20lb sx1 with a 12lb flouro leader no issues. i've also spooled with 10lb sniper and no problems.

Loaded mine with power pro slick 40lbs and 60lbs leader. No issue at all..infact one of the furthest distance i ever achieved on a round bc, with almost no over run on 1 brake tab switch on and zero on the external dial.
