Can I punch with an X7 Destroyer?

Just wondering if I could punch with an X7 Destroyer Destruction and have enough power to move fish. I don't have this rod yet, it is on it's way. If not I'll have to look to trade it for a Black Jungle punching model I guess. What do you guys think?

which model x7? The AM71 should be okay for dunking. For heavy punching The Destruction is okay.

Sorry, brain fart. Yes I meant the Destruction. I made a quick assumption when ordering but didn't know if I should try to trade for the Black Jungle 710XBJ to be safe?

Fish Monroe punches hard with the Steez SVF so I don't see why you can't with the X7 Destruction. You could go with the Baccarat and punch for Catfish.

It's definitely not a punching rod in my hands. It's a great deep water jig rod, and I don't mind fishing a jig around some cover, but then again, I've never tried actually hooking up 1oz plus tungsten and going into the cabbage with this rod. It just doesn't have that kind of feel for me...

Both - the taper is right, the power is lacking for what I prefer in a punching rod. I use this rod as a deep water jig rod first and foremost, it's ideal with a 3/4 oz foot ball jig for me. I'll also throw larger t-rigged plastics in deep water with it. It's versatile too, I like using it with 3/4 oz and 1 oz swim bait heads with paddle tails. You may love it for punching, to each their own!

I'd punch with it... the slower taper is actually ideal for punching.
