2016 is going to be a huge year for Shimano fans. Curado 70, new Antares DC, Metanium MGL...

Awesome.

They are speculating the Scorpion XT replacement as well. Which is probably going to be the JDM version of the Curado 70

I was just thinking a new Antares DC would be nice! I have all Daiwas with the exception of the Antares DC which is one special casting reel. Will it be the size of the original antares DC or will it be the bigger 200 reel frame size of the 2012 non DC Antares? I hope it is the 100 size of the original Antares DC.

He could cast 100m up with any reel so this doesn't justify.

I remember every year when Shimano have new reel coming out they ask him to cast and all over 100m. Conquest, Antares DC, Antares SVS, now Antares 2016.

He is obviously very skilled caster, but 110 meters is still very impressive. I am glad that have the classic Antares DC long casting capabilities.

Japan tackle reports the old Antares DC did 118 meters... I wonder how they are going to top that?

Pendulum cast. Probably used light braided line with an aerodynamic rubber weight.

I want to see how far they can cast with a jerk or crankbait. Not questioning their casting skills, I just really want to see how much farther they can cast than me.

They always test this with 14 pound .31 mm nylon. I would assume this was done the same.

I have an old Rod and Reel magazine from the early 2000s (somewhere in garage or under my bed now probably) showing he cast a TDZ 91m before he was paid by Shimano to cast their reels.

No doubts the Shimanos he test-cast are good reels. But I believe any reel would be, in the hand of a decent caster. Could we, mortals, get the same distance with the same reel? I couldn't.

I am curious to see how far could he cast the newer Daiwa vairiants. :-({|= 100m up as well I believe.

I seen some videos of regular folks casting the Morethan SV with minimal thumbing, getting good 70-80 meters. I think it is pretty legit.

I think that he tested the 12 Antares with a 5/8oz casting plus and 14# mono.
