I'm a bit late to the thread, but I'll play. I love the XX Stinger Tip. Used it this summer on Erie and it did great. Very, very sensitive for not being $400+.
I'll throw some other finesse/DS rods that were not mentioned out there to consider:
Evergreen Alley Oop

Evergreen Stingray 66
http://www.tackletour.com/reviewevergre ... ray66.html
Diawa Cielo (out of production)

The "Designo" solid tip blank is used by a few different companies in Japan...Imakatsu (Rodeo Ride), Designo, Evergreen.
The Gamaktsu Luxxe ATS05 Series has a 7' ML rod that looks pretty sweet too.
I love fishing a DS with a baitcaster. A lot of people say the fall rate is not desireable, but I've not noticed anything too horrible. Line twist problems are much reduced also.
Has anyone fished the X4 Hedgehog?? That has me interested too.
HTH...

Good call David, yes indeed, the X4 Hedgehog casting rod is a fantastic drop shot rod. It's also a blast with ned rigs, flick shakes, and small weightless worms, etc.Tokugawa wrote:I love fishing a DS with a baitcaster. Very nice combo indeed. Love the purple Fuji hook keeper and the purple-ish braid!

Thought this was exactly what you were looking for? I bet it would be killer on those St-Lawrence smalliesMothercanucker wrote:damn that rod is something special

Yes I think it is the one I'm looking for. I guide on Eagle Lake and smallie fishing is year 'round so aside from the st-lawrence cruisers in deeper water it seems like it would excel on dropping light baits near beds in 2 fow too.
Re: *Suggestions for "enthusiast" finesse/drop shot rod in 2
The Hedgehog really grew on me. It had some stiff dropshot competition from my NRXs, and custom K2, but now has a permanent home in my arsenal. If anyone is on the fence, don't be.
