Second one on it's way after selling some IMX rods and now looking at the deep throat special. I must say that I am really impressed with shallow rod

The F5-76X Nautilus is definitely on a lot of lists including mine. The Tackle Trap just got the last few brand new ones in stock out there...

I have added the phase III Nautilus and a Black Jungle Super Red Demon. But doubt i am done. Especially with the news of the upcoming release of the Evoluzion 30th anniversary limited legend works rods coming soon.

Both excellent additions. I can hardly wait for the 30th Anniversary rods to hit. I can picture the Mephisto paired up with a Monoblock Topaz already :big grin:

I'm Dissapointed that the new Mephisto is not 6'9" like the original.

Really? I like the 7'2" C40 Mephisto and the new 30th Limited model is an incarnate of that rod. The 6'9" SB Mephisto is a great rod, I enjoy mine, but it's a completely different animal. So different that they shouldn't share the name in my opinion!

I'll let you in on a secret. You will not find a better peacock bass rod than the original SB Mephisto. This is why I 'collect' them. The length and action are ideal for the giant prop baits I use. Paired with a Zillion HLC and 70 lb samurai braid (preferably yellow) and you have an outfit that can tackle anything a peacock will throw at you.

I agree in that the new rod shouldn't even be called a Mephisto. If Yuki made a throwback Mephisto to the original's specs I'd be all over it.
