Line choice for Blue Emblem

Post by adam lancia » Tue Jul 12, 2016 9:17 pm

I have a Blue Emblem that I'll be using for weightless flukes, light top waters and other lighter lures. I was going to put 20# braid with a leader on it but was wondering if that might be a little hazardous considering the spool is magnesium. Am I running the risk of collapsing the spool using braid? I usually run a fairly light drag, set so it slips just a touch on hookset. Would I be better off using a copoly like Yo-Zuri Hybrid ultra soft (I have some 12# & 15#) or P-Line CX 12#...? I definitely don't want to run the risk of damaging such a cool piece of equipment, especially since it not only performs amazing but is also a collectors piece. Thoughts and input are greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!!!

I've run 30# Daiwa Samurai Braid on the Blue Emblem a lot without any issues. If you wanted to put a quality, non-braided line on there, Sunline Shooter Defier Armilo is an excellent choice. Congrats on acquiring the Blue Emblem, you'll enjoy it!

Alright, so it doesn't appearpear that I need to be concerned with collapsing the spool using braid, awesome!

I'll get around to trying that line someday Gary, but it's gotten to the point that my wife has started to ask me just exactly how many spools of line is considered enough  I took that as a hint to either sell some or use it up.
