Best rod for fishing jigs?
I am thinking my next rod should be geared towards fishing jigs and other weighted rigs on bottom . Like rods currently in production or readily available.

For feel alone, it is hard to beat a NRX. You can get whatever length and power suits your needs best. Megabass makes some really nice stylish rods with good feel if you want something more exotic looking. Their Orichi XX rods are great and very versatile if you are wanting something that has some style and full grip handle. You could have a custom built as well on a nice blank with the components you like. I didn't see you mention budget, but since this is the enthusiasts forum might as well dream big!

So, cost isn't an issue? When you say jigs or are you talking about typical bottom contact jigs or swimjigs? Also might want to specify what size jigs you are going to be using?
Here is what I am using since I am not sure the answers to the above:
Heavy Jigs in heavy cover - Custom MHX Hi Mod 874
Bottom contact brush/football jigs - NRX 873
Swimjigs - MB Orichi XX EMTF
Finesse jigs - Dobyns DX742c

Bottom contact jigs. Probably 3/8 to 3/4 oz. Not for flipping, pitching or punching have that covered. Something for slower presentation. I am in no rush to make this purchase, which makes price less of an issue.

That's sensitive! Now if you could smell it may have a better idea what they are biting on.

That rod won't work for jigs above 1/2 oz like he mentioned. I would look at the 894.Dexter wrote:nrx 893....can feel a fish fart.

3/8-3/4oz is sort of a big range in jig weights. For me I use two rods for this range:
NRX 893C - 3/8oz almost exclusivley. Sensitivity is epic.
NRX 894C - 1/2oz to 3/4. Also excellent senstivity.

3/8 to 1/2 is more realistic for me.
Re: Best rod for fishing jigs?
Ha, great question with lots of possible answers depending on your fishing style, budget, personal preference, etc.
Personally, I have found that rods that fish 1/2 oz really well don't do 3/8 oz well (but will do 5/8 oz well). But that's just me and I'm uber picky. But here is my bottom dragging rod lineup. I fish my football heads more by dragging than jerking if that helps (I do my jerks by cranking the reel).
7' rods (I typically use in less that 20' of water):
That Luxxe is sick for 1/2 oz. Love that Titanium tip. But it's a tad too stout for my taste for 3/8 oz jigs but will handle 3/4 oz very well. Most rods I have tried have their sweet spot smack in the middle of the rod rating. There is no way the Luxxe can handle 3/16 oz well (which is the lower range rating).

- 3/8 oz: NRX 843C, looking to try the NRX 853C
- 1/2 oz: Luxxe Oltre B70H, MB P3 Bearing Down
- 1/2 oz: NRX 894C

Re: Best rod for fishing jigs?
Thanks for the information, most of my fishing is in 5-7 foot range. Rarely over 10 feet.
Re: Best rod for fishing jigs?
Great. Then it's up to you whether you prefer a longer rod vs. a shorter rod. I know of plenty of folks using longer rods in shallow water, but I prefer 7' rods unless I'm bombing casts, which is rare for the fishing I do.

Get a G Loomis NRX894c and dont look back. It is flat out the best jig rod on the market for jigs in the 3/8-3/4 oz range. Just my opinion but you will love it.
