FX73/T3 Mago vs Morethan SV TW / Zillion PE Special

Post by kgasuns » Sun Aug 14, 2016 8:19 pm

I have MB FX73 (the Racing version). Have ordered a T3 Mago.
But dreams about Morethan SV TW have started to haunt me. So I was wondering if somebody has compared the casting distance and ease of casting - lures from 1/2 oz to 1 1/2 oz? (With PE lines.) Another contender is Zillion PE Special 7.9.

Had an Anteres 12 for this category, liked it very much, but decided to try something new. And palming was probably not as perfect, as with FX73.

Hi
I wouldn't even consider any T3 Variante for Lures up to 1,5 Oz. This is zillion territory
So, Morethan and the PE Special would be the way to go. Or maybe even an IP?

According to specs FX73 is ok up to 80 gram. Which is considerably more than 1 1/2 oz.

Which/what specs?? I've owned both, T3 and T3 Ballistic and personally would never go above 1Oz. I have also encountered the grooving Problem in the Front bar (with braid),as mentioned here on TT. For me, again Personally, the T3 and its brethren are more like "heavy" finesse baitcasters 8-)
I felt way more confident in the range above 1 Oz with a zillion or the tatula hd (custom)..

Non-JDM T3 do have grooving problems with braids. But JDM versions are covered with harder metal. As much as I have heard, at least.

Here are the specs in the description:

The grooving wasn't in the T-Wing, it was in the Front bar.
Of course you could cast up to 80gr with it. But I doubt, if so, it will then last for a lifetime

T3's don't groove if they have the small metal plate that sits just in front of the spool, original T3's (first run) didn't have the plate but they are now standard. I had an original that grooved and had it repaired, ive since collected another 7 T3s and not one has grooved (I only fish braid/PE and some very thin stuff at that)

its a non-issue that keeps popping up...

back the the original point, all my t3s (megabass, slp and gancraft variants) handle 1.5oz fine. some better than others like the mago but if you want the morethan why not try it!

Thanks Phantom!

How would you compare Mago to FX73 in terms of casting distance and ease for 3/4 to 1 1/2 oz lures?
And how they both compare in terms of reeling in smoothness?

Thanks!
