Reel For Evergreen SuperStallion Black
Reel For Evergreen SuperStallion Black
Hello fellow tackle junkies!
Just trying to get a few ideas for reel options on an Evergreen Super Stallion Black series
I currently own a Metanium, a is71 Hyper Lariat, and an Aldebaran...and I feel that these are all a bit too light.
Looking to do some heavier bottom contact jigging, punching but also have the option to tie on a bait to throw at distance.
I use lefty reels and prefer low profile
I am really liking the new z2020 Black, but I have never had a 2020, are they too big?

Would an IP Variant or Tatula HD Custom be an alternative?
A good friend of mine has the Tat HD on his Super Stallion and really likes it. He even fishes for cod with this combo...

I have the original Super Stallion, had the Black and sold it, to each their own. I have a Z200HL on mine and really enjoy the combo. The new LTD Z would be an excellent option for the SS Black in my opinion...

Zillion TWS 9.1. Nice reel, can get them dirt cheap and is heavier with beefy brass gears. I use one for punching and its great.

Will the tackle trap be carrying the z Ltd?

IP 68. May not be the best distance caster but it pitches very well. Skips very well too.

I don't blame you - it's a very nice stick and I'm sure you'll enjoy it! Unfortunately not, Daiwa Japan refused to allow import to US dealers despite our request!j2015 wrote:I would love to have an original ss, the black was available so I brought itbronzefly wrote:I have the original Super Stallion, had the Black and sold it, to each their own. I missed out on the original Z's, so I jumped all over the Z2020 LTD and pre-ordered it. Can't wait to get it

The SS original is a unique rod in that I have not tried a real on mine that I did not like. I used the 2020, Antares, Metanium DC, and IP68 and all worked well. I also tried the SS black and sold mine as well. That rod is a bit different re balance and weight in hand. I would suggest a lighter weight reel for that rod no heavier than the IP68 which would be awesome on it. The Met would work as well. That rod deserves a high end reel so lets not hear about those tatulas.

agreed, I have a tatula type r and would not put it on there..this is going to be my high end flipping stick
Previous posters suggested the zillion..seems like is a nice reel, what are your opinions on the Diawa MoreThan? I have no experience with that reel, but looks very nice
Re: Reel For Evergreen SuperStallion Black
X2. I have one one mine and really like it. The weight helps w/the balance. Plus, you can always get Ian to work his magic on the reel to help increase casting distance (which isn't that bad to begin with).LowRange wrote:IP 68.
