Adam, if black would work, The Tackle Trap is now stocking the SV105 cast cap. It's a beautiful addition to a lot of the Pixy/Alphas/Sol platform reels where red just doesn't look right, and they aren't expensive, and are easy to get! Here's a link with a photo with one installed on a beautiful Airy Red Pixy.

Here's a very nice AIRY RED for any of you Pixy enthusiasts looking for a gem:

It might not look bad with a black drag star, handle and knobs. Hmmmm... Thanks Gary, much appreciated.

What cast control cap is that?
It's from a daiwa aird red tune. Took me a while to track it down... :big grin:
I have 3 of those c.c.caps.
Are you using all 3? LOL!

But really, are you...? I'd love one for my Airy so I can put a clicking drag star on it without using the red Type R CCC. Or point me in the direction of where to source one. Thanks either way!
Sorry for the late response. I have had an on-going issue with kidney stones and had to have surgery this past Monday. I stumbled across 2 of the 3 that I have. Both came to me on other reels that were heavily modded. I moved them to other reels until each one found a permanent residence. The 3rd one came on the Aird reel that I bought from member r61 awhile back. And it actually found it's way to another reel, being replaced with a black one to match the Zonda drag star that's on the Aird now.

I just can't quit them! I just picked up another Pixy-this time, a silver mica with the famed Airy Red spool in it. It also has deep purple Hedgehog parts, a swept silver carbon handle and MB Hyper Corks. I'll post pics when it gets here.

I still have enthusiasm for the platform. I took my PXR with DIY spool out on New Year's Day and caught 8 smallmouth in New River between 1 1/2 and 3 3/4 pounds. Mated with a zillion medium action rod it was great fun....

Awesome reels with a little tuning on the drag. I find the factory spool and bearings to be quite a handful for even a very experienced caster when attempting to run the minimum required on the mag dial.

Still got my 03 and 04 reels and rods all NIB stashed away here. Four items I can't see myself parting with anytime soon, that's for sure.

Exquisite when married to their respecting rods. Some things never get old.....

I have 2, one with all the upgrades I could possibly have done, the other with the line guide, drag and bearing upgrades. So total investment in the 2 reels is well over a grand. My Pixzilla will be the last reel to ever leave my collection.

I absolutely love all my Pixys, the only ones I don't own is a Silver Mica and an SPR.
Am I missing anything performance wise, by not owning an SPR?

Love 'em!

Have an airy red Pixzilla and type R. Most of the time I have to restrain from adding more. Constantly modifying them to fine tune to my liking

Nothing changed. They were great then, and they're great now. I would even say they're more special these days because of the colors, something that is long gone and forgotten by Daiwa. Not to mention how difficult it is to find one of them in clean condition.

Upgrading the drag stack is needed, tho
