Re: 2017 JDM Shimano Reel Speculation
Wow, I love the looks of the new E-DC but not the price. I was considering selling one of my previous Gen E-DCs but not so sure now. I was hoping it would be under $350 with the current exchange rate.

Hope it's a typo, 47000
Re: 2017 JDM Shimano Reel Speculation
Any idea/speculation on the lure range the stock Conquest BFS will be able to throw?

Same here. 74,000 yen would be close to $650 US dollars making it more than what one could obtain the Antares DC for.

For those interested. It looks like Plat has the Scorpion DC & Exsence DC up for pre-order! If Plat isn't your JDM retailer of choice, at least it will give you an idea of the price points to expect.
Scorpion DC listed @ 31,875 JPY ($285 USD)
http://www.plat.co.jp/shop/catalog/defa ... on-dc.html
Exsence DC listed @ 66,600 JPY ($597 USD)
http://www.plat.co.jp/shop/catalog/defa ... ce-dc.html
Edit: Just to double check, I tried adding them to the cart. It doesn't look like Plat is accepting pre-orders on the Exsence just yet. But it looked like the Scorpion DC was a go...

If it's an Antares DC made for saltwater, should have a few extra features which would make it cost more than the Antares. It's definitely more than the previous Exsence, but I'm ok with that price if it is based off the Antares DC, though it will probably be cheaper than that.Fishing4Fun wrote:y2k88 wrote:Hope it's a typo, 47000

Actually its 2000 yen cheaper than the Antares DC. So the street price if released today should.be around $500. Id have to see what the Exsence tune 4x8 is all aboutJBcrankaddict wrote:If it's an Antares DC made for saltwater, should have a few extra features which would make it cost more than the Antares. Re: 2017 JDM Shimano Reel Speculation
im not quite sure I understand the thought process on the Exsence DC. Seems a little all over the place.
$600, bigger body, basically the same line capacity & gear ratio, micro gears on a high speed saltwater reel.
The 'tune' is interesting, but if it can't even hold 100yds of Japan size 14lb test(let alone american) it doesn't do much good to me.
Maybe the tune is focused towards lighter lures? But that wouldn't make much sense given the size, and the new dedicated bfs reels coming out.
Will wait to pass judgement till there's more info/videos, but that price definitely makes it a no-go for me.

People need to realize the Exsence is designed for braid. The current one was underpriced and a steal for what you got, I knew the price was going to go up on this new one but not this much. Still gonna get one, but maybe not till later. Too many other shimano's to buy first lol

Yeah...it's a hell of a 2017 lineup for Shimano. I think the CQ BFS is giving me the cabin fever shakes the most at this pointBootytrain wrote:Too many other shimano's to buy first lol

I just bought the 2013 Shimano Exsence DC and I love that reel so much! I went night fishing and caught striper and walleye on this reel. The platform they put it on feels really good. I hope the Antares body platform feels just as good or better. I am waiting for the new one and will get it but I do think the price will go down a bit, the 13 model you will be able to get for even a lower price. It was one of the best dc reels they made. It will in my opinion be hard to beat the 13 model.
