Gorgeous rods. I love the metal flake in the paint and the woven cloth inlay.

I have the vkc-78H-4 for chunking baits for musky, pike and smallies, and its an amazing rod. The softer (but not soft) taper is perfect to bomb lures across the river. This is one of those rods that makes me want to stick with Megabass and ignore all other rod brands. Perfectly matched with a z2020.

A few pics comparing handle length and my thought on the taper just bending it in hand.

With the handle all the way in it's just a bit longer than my Hyuga 72H which has a pretty short handle. This is definitely a kayak friendly monster hunter stick. The balance also remained good with the fancy Ryoga 1016 moving the balance point from the honeycomb portion of the lock nut at full extension to the forward knurled portion of the lock nut. Even at its shortest it balances out really well.

At full extension it matches the 13 to 14 inch long handles of true big bait sticks and deep cranking rods.

Intial impressions on the taper just playing with the rod by hand and compared to the Slant Bridge Super Destruction are that the Valkaryie 76XXH has a faster action under light to moderate load but feels equally as soft as deep into the rod as the SBSD. This rod definitely is unique. I haven't fished either but my intial impressions are big baits/mag deep cranks for the SBSD and big baits/flipping for the Valkaryie. Its awfully heavy for a flipping stick at like 11 oz making the SBSD feel like a feather but it is so well balanced that unless I was spending 8 hours flipping I dont think the weight is an issue. That weight just goes with the territory with a composite glass blank like this. I think this rod is meant for more of a multi tool of an XXH rather than to be the best purpose buit punching stick out there.

I just used my 7'1 for an evoke zero and its just perfecto!

I got two more evokes in yesterday and for some reason I decided to play around today with the blue gill one
and this rod is just bee knees and elbows .. cause you can do just about anything with it.

The 7'1"H Valkyrie is one of my favorite rods, just slightly behind the Javelin.
The Valkyrie is used for jigs, MB Dark Sleepers, larger paddletails, and moderate sized swimbaits.

What's everyone's thoughts on the 72H as a spinnerbait and chatterbait stick?

It's pretty stout for those baits unless you're using really oversized versions. The 71MH Valkyrie is my favorite out of all that I've tried in general and an impressive 3/8 to 1/2 oz spinnerbait and chatter bait rod.

Thanks. I have a Hyuga 72H for the oversized baits. I was hoping it would be softer than the Hyuga.

My favorite chatterbait and mid depth crankbait rod of all time.

I'm going to have to nab the MH. I always wanted a nice glass stick for those baits and more than one source says that rod is the standout in the lineup
