Hyuga 72M
Hyuga 72M
Just purchased the Hyuga 72M to pair with a Tatula SV TW 8.1 as a budget power finesse combo. Hope all of the purple does not scare away the fish. It was one of the few, if not the only 1 piece Megabass rod that was over 7ft. and had a lighter power rating. (Although I have no idea what the power rating is!) labeled for 1/4 to 1oz and 10-16lb line.
Wondering if anyone is familiar with the rod and have any comments about it?

Re: Hyuga 72M
I'm sure some experts will chime in but if I'm not mistaken that's a fairly new specimen in the Hyuga line. Consensus is from every most people and me since I've own one is that they're pretty damn nice and the cliche term for the price point. The rating suggests medium-heavy and it sounds like it may have characteristics similar to a Diablo but I'm sure again someone will chime in to better educate you I do know the Pyrofil is pretty crispy and I've enjoy my little finesse version the 6'4" in 2 piece configuration. Down the road I'm more than likely get the telescoping 8-footer

Interesting looking rod indeed. I'm going to order a few for the shop, will give one a whirl. I am a big fan of the Hyuga 72H as a versatile bigger bait rod that reminds me a lot of the beloved X4 Destruction, so this one should be a good, lighter powered, highly versatile specimen.

My suggestion to anyone who is interested is to wait until TTT has it available. As I kinda of expected from the discription on JLS, they requested (in a very poor english email) an additional 2900 YEN on top of the 2000 YEN at time of checkout. That put the rod a tad over $200 delivered, still a respectable price, but anyone not expecting the additional shipping fee might feel butt hurt. Plus I imagine, no warranty. According to the UPS tracking it is set to arrive at my ex wifes house in FL tomorrow. Pretty respectable turn around time. Problem is I won't be there to see it for another 3 weeks. At least I have my TS Poker arriving in Vegas on Monday via TTT to keep me busy. Same day my Battler 1520 is set to arrive from AU.
Will be ordering a 8.1 TAT SV from you Gary in the next couple of weeks to go with the Hyuga, once my bank account recovers.

Re: Hyuga 72M
I've been looking for 3 month for a reel to pair with my Hyuga, nothing too fancy. Was going to go with a stock Tat 8.1 but did not like the frame color, looked high and low for a Steez EX with the purple trim, although I wasn't excited about how the light weight would balance that rod. Never found one. Finally found this in some obscure (to us) proshop in Japan. $80 more that the stock Tat, but gets a 90mm carbon handle, jet black paint job, a total of 11 bearings, purple spool and the purple hue SLP nobs...win win win win. Now just need for it to make it through the typhoons and land in Las Vegas.

Nice score. Should look great on the Hyuga.
