Red tune 60th TW; who’s in the goods?
Red tune 60th TW; who’s in the goods?
Anyone here order one of these unicorns? I’d love to see some tackle porn if you did. Please. I have my pop up blockers set on high alert in anticipation of some images.
Re: Red tune 60th TW; who’s in the goods?
I would confirm that the reel has brakes on it it and is meant to be cast before ordering. Some of these reels have no brakes and are meant to be free spooled over the side of the boat.

I think it's a vertical dropping/casting reel, like kohga series. No mag brake
Re: Red tune 60th TW; who’s in the goods?
I suspect this as well. There already is one based on the Steez platform. There has also been "red tune" versions of other centrifugal vertical jigging reels like the Arid Red Tune and SMAK Red Tune. A guy could always buy one and convert it to a mag reel. A few members here have done this with the Aird versions based on the Alphas platform. Based on what I see I think this will have a centrifugal brake the the old Red Tune and Red Tune Arid. I don't know if those are meant to be cast like the Pixy SPR or just free spoiled over the boat. I've never owned a Daiwa Red Tune.4g63power wrote:I think it's a vertical dropping/casting reel, like kohga series. No mag brake

Huh; mystery for now regarding the breaks. On that red tune 60th site, daiwa advertises the zero adjuster, sv spool, 3rd generation TW (didn’t know there were some many already) on this red tune as all casting improvements. Would seem strange to push that on a vertical jigging reel. Found a pic of one online today from the other side and top and it seems to have the steez like side plate and break adjuster. Actually from the top it looks like a steez to me when I initially thought it was a ct type frame. Someone on tt will have the scoop eventually.
Re: Red tune 60th TW; who’s in the goods?
Looks like Steez but could be also Tatula
Re: Red tune 60th TW; who’s in the goods?
Some of the previous Red Tune reels were centrifugal brakes with a 'mag dial'. I'm guessing they were externally adjustable centrifugal? I see the SV and G1 stamping on the Steez Red Tune TW spool but the lettering is not colored to stand out. I don't see SV mentioned in the Daiwa site for this reel but I did not translate the page. The TW was visible the Japanese site. Worst case scenario of it is centrifugal and someone doesn't like it then it could probably be converterd to Magforce like the Arid Red Tune.

It's kinda of funny just looking at how they slapped that Red Tune TW together for their website.
-The picture of the spool, shows an SV spool that has been painted over (poorly) to cover up the SV.
The picture of the aluminum frame and sideplate, also shows the plastic internal side piece that they put in place for thier non magnet, non inductor jigging models.
The blurb about TWS suggests that it facilitates the fall of a lure/bait.
Unless your jigging for seabass in 20ft. of water I would hold off.

Jigging or casting, I’d still like to see some photos. Anyone who has one or gets one, please do post. Thanks
Re: Red tune 60th TW; who’s in the goods?
Would the zero adjuster be as useful with centrifugal breaks as with air break? I don’t have as much experience with that breaking system, but on past reels I always dailed in both breaks for different conditions.LowRange wrote:Some of the previous Red Tune reels were centrifugal brakes with a 'mag dial'. Re: Red tune 60th TW; who’s in the goods?
I think the zero adjuster is more of "stop tightening down the spool tension so much" hissy fit from Daiwa than it is any sort of feature. They are putting it in Magforce Z reels like the new Tatula 100 too. I don't think it is unique to Air Brake or Magforce reels.Polkfish1 wrote:Would the zero adjuster be as useful with centrifugal breaks as with air break? Old post but for anyone that's searching...
It has nothing under the side cap. No centrifugal, no magnetic, nothing. Only thing there is to control spool is the mechanical braking or spool tension
