Re: ZPI Reel?
Ah, yes. It does look almost exactly the same. The gear side plate looks a little different, but that's all.
This is the way.

Re: ZPI Reel?
I think the BPS reel is a dead match.
Bionic Plus.....
ZPI....
Bionic Plus.....
ZPI.....
See the sideplate release on lower front edge of the palm plate? That, my friends, is the same frame. Oh well, at least anyone who buys it can brag that it actually has a ZPI spool, maybe even SiC spool bearings. Lets see, thats $140 for the spool, $40 for the bearings.......and another $180 for a Bionic Plus body. Like I said before, no thanks!

Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

Re: ZPI Reel?
Yeah the ZPi is just tilted forward a little on that overhead shot. I knew the palm side with that stupid brake dial and emblem screamed Bass pro. I guess I just blocked that out.
Hey, at least you can pimp your $80 BPS reel now!

Re: ZPI Reel?
As pointed out, its not. I have over 30 TD-Z's, this reel shares nothing with them. It has a pointed hood like nearly every reel made since 2000, thats as close as it gets. Most of us would wish it to be a Daiwa or a Shimano, but it is not. I'll save judgement until reviewed or I have one in hand though.Johnny A wrote:The hood is totally Daiwa, possibly even Shimano. I like TD-Z's

It's a $300 Bionic Plus. It's a friggin Trulinoya.
Re: ZPI Reel?
I've had a TD-Z or 2 in my life, too. That said, I'm willing to let the fat lady sing. It's all conjecture and hypothetical until then anyway. #FinalJeopardyThemeTeal101 wrote:As pointed out, its not. I have over 30 TD-Z's, this reel shares nothing with them. ..."We have a lot of orders for arkady selene and rod.
We currently have a lot of orders at a time, and the fax line is going to be hard to connect.
I'm sorry for your loss."...
Their most recent Facebook Post (translated). Looks like someone is willing to buy them.
One thing to keep in mind. Lews and Bass Pro are not readily offered in Japan. Abu Garcia is pretty well regarded. I can see the Japanese Market (and other markets) embracing this new ZPI reel regardless of who is making it. If their goal as a company is growth, revenue and profit this was the path with the least resistance and opportunity.
I guess my only peave now is I wish they kept their high end niche market items as a subsidary.
Oh, and whomever is thier business development manager should have thought about adding a couple of extra fax machines and lines...

Re: ZPI Reel?
Are they really getting out of the accessory market for sure, or could it be a translation misinterpretation?..

Re: ZPI Reel?
I wish them well with the latest change to their business plan...but won't be at all interested in their rods and reels.
