Daiwa 7.9 PE Special
I have a question about the bar that sits under the "hood" if you will.
This piece is not on other Zillions and I assume it is to tame the PE comming off the spool.
Anybody know what I am talking about and its true purpose? I swapped spools to run floro and it runs against said bar.
Thank you!

Hmmm...not sure that makes sense as the Zillion platform is a tank and it clearly impacts the line.
Here is a picture of the extra bar. It sit right in front of the spool and the line has to duck under it. With a TD-Z US Trail spool, the floro audibly rubs as you cast and retrieve. It is really strange.

Re: Daiwa 7.9 PE Special
When you run flouro or mono, that bar will definitely tame the line. I had an OG Zillion with 25# Big Game mono that actually peeled the paint at the back edge of the hood away over time. I always run braid on most reels, so I really noticed it when I took the reel down for service after the first year I had it in rotation. It puzzled me until I put 2 and 2 together. The line is the only thing I could attribute it to, since I bought the reel new and only ever run mono on it. The other Zillion always had braid on it for frogs and it didn't lose any paint there. This only puzzles me more, because the PE reels are made for braid, so I dont think that bar would even be needed.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

The deps dr100zx has the same additional bar as well.
Re: Daiwa 7.9 PE Special
It could be there to add structural integrity to the reel, considering it's a reel designed for PE line. Reduce play between the two sideplates.
