Daiwa Alpha 5.8 gears?
Any folks out there know if main gear is brass or aluminum, will not buy reels with aluminum gears any more.
Re: Daiwa Alpha 5.8 gears?
The standard Alphas 5.8 is brass, the Alphas R is aluminum to my knowledge.boatinpete wrote:Any folks out there know if main gear is brass or aluminum, will not buy reels with aluminum gears any more.

The Sol had 5.8 brass gears. All Alphas variations before the Finesse Custom had an aluminum main gear and brass pinion gear. The 6.8 and 7.2 gears that fit the Alphas are brass. Those came in the Finesse Custom and the SV 105/ Alphas SV 105 models, respectively.boatinpete wrote:Any folks out there know if main gear is brass or aluminum, will not buy reels with aluminum gears any more.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

What about the alphas sv 5.8's? I'm waiting on a set for my ASC. I kinda hope they are aluminum just to make it even lighter.
This is the way.

Well, that's cool too. Considering what that reel is for those will last much longer than I will.ss30378 wrote:Those are brass gears.poisonokie wrote:What about the alphas sv 5.8's? I'm waiting on a set for my ASC. I kinda hope they are aluminum just to make it even lighter.

Dang it I meant Alpha Air 5.8 as the one on Tacklewarehouse, I know it's a finesse real but brass gear would be nice if that is true.

I'll check tonight. I need to service my SV105, anyway. If not, I have a set of duralumin gears from an Alphas Type F that I might part with.poisonokie wrote:What about the alphas sv 5.8's? I'm waiting on a set for my ASC. I kinda hope they are aluminum just to make it even lighter.
I will let you know on this one, too. I need to service that one, also.boatinpete wrote:Dang it I meant Alpha Air 5.8 as the one on Tacklewarehouse, I know it's a finesse real but brass gear would be nice if that is true.
