A green & white Cardinal 3 back in the 80's when they were drying up. I saw one in a Chippewa Falls, WI bait shop and I just didn't want to spend the $35.
Good stuff sir. Up until a few years ago I had 6 or 7 that I chopped the bail from in the 3 and 4. I sold them after a ton of use for a hefty sum on original long out of production Charlie Brewer Slider rods to a gent in Japan. My buddy Ned still uses them. I keep putting off getting the Day Sprout version(s). Good thread.

Do Loomis blanks count? I have one left and would love some others.

When I was in college and getting into higher end gear around '01, I joined the forum and started visiting japan tackle. They had that custom td-z order page up with all those colors to choose from. $599 was almost laughable to me then. Things have changed. I'd like to have one in metallic pink. Hell...all the metallic colors.

I have the pink one...looks nice, especially with a handle upgrade and magenta slp knobs and purple HH dress up parts added.

I joined well after the custom shop TDZ's were out.. but I always wanted one in Pink, Champagne Gold, White and Yellow.
Always wanted a minty Zillion HLC..I look once in a while on those auction sites..might pull the trigger one day..not that I need more reels...

Two rods come to mind that I wish I wouldn't have sold... OG Cumara CUC72M and Dobyns DX701. Those were both fun sticks!

A few things I've been thinking about lately regarding this subject.

I used to regret not picking up a Calcutta/Conquest 50DC while they were more readily available, that is up until the advent of the Conquest BFS. While not the same reels, I feel the CNQ BFS more than fills the niche from the 50DC in my arsenal.

As for rods, I regret that I sold my Cumulus rods. While they weren't nearly as pretty as some of today's offerings, or even the older X7 series Megabass, they were topshelf rods in my book. More than made up for the pedestrian aesthetics with their overall weight and performance.

It's taken years to acquire all of the rods and reels I wanted but at this point I think I have enough rods and back ups for the rest of my life. Two at the top for me are the Megabass slant bridge rods (all of them  ) and the Racing Viola, which sits on my desk.

I missed the custom TDZs as well. I've always wanted to pair a champagne gold one with an OG BCR.

I know I'm going to regret not getting a Steez RD at some point in the future.

Any of the earlier 2004 to 2008 Circa Shimano baitcasters like the Chronarch D's and the like. And stocking up on spares...
I found a Citica D mint condition, box everything, looked like the reel hadn't been touched for $50 at a pawn shop. My coolest find yet. Awesome tank of a reel, gave it to my shimano buddy for Christmas.

Those were amazing reels. I had one as well, and sold it. Regretted it bad. Then found a Curado 200J, and Im all good again.

Evergreen Grand Cobra Limited. Saw one for sale a while back and within a few hours it was gone.

That and an old school GLX 844 MBR with the ECS reel seat when they were being discontinued.
