Does anyone have experience with the evergreen wild stallion? Preferably if you own both the grandstallion and the wild stallion and could do a comparison for me! Thanks.

I finally got the chance to pick mine up a few days ago. Pitching, punching, swimbaits, all of the above. Super versatile, sensitive, crazy weight range, and so many posibilites. I just wish I went to get it sooner. It’s all good though the bite gets better every week for me as it gets warmer. Overall I couldn’t be happier.

What reel did you pair it up with?

I went with a Ryoga 1520hl. I don’t own many round reels but figured it would be versatile for swimbaits, punching, or other heavy duty needs. I added a RCS 100 ESD handle and knobs and threw in a gunmetal 1514 HLC spool for right now. I’ve been throwing the gantarel, bullshooter, and 8” trash fish the past few times out. Nothing yet but that’s part of the game. Here’s a pic. I just got the new iphone and was experimenting with the portrait mode came out kinda funky. I think I’ll try again with regular mode. LoL

I didn't need to see this. I have a Ryoga 1520HL that is homeless right now. 8-[

Looks really good, course for me anything with a Ryoga on it looks good.

Every reel deserves a good home. Especially one as capable as a Ryoga. ;)

The rod is pretty simple looking, but performance and power is where it really shines. I can’t wait to get a beast to commit.

I get it... lucky for me every cast with a big swimbait can also get attacked by monster striped bass. There have been quite a few in the 30lb+ range caught recently. This reel will come in handy on this rod.

Mine has been getting a big-time workout. Absolutely blown away by this rod. Fits my fishing style perfectly. Was skeptical of the EVA full grip on paper but it does have a special resonance to it that seems to amplify the sensitivity. I’ve read Imae tout that both for the GTX and the newer full cork Super Stallion variant. Seems to be real.

Right on! Same here. I needed a rod that I wouldn’t mind throwing big baits on that was enthusiast enough, that I wouldn’t put it down to fish my other high end gear. This rod is most definitely that rod for me.

I’d agree with Imae about the Eva handled rods...especially these GT models. I have the Stallion GT, Super Stallion GT, and Grand Stallion GT-X. I chose them after reading his thoughts on the GT vs. RS series rods. Like I’ve mentioned in another thread if the Rapid Gunner came in a EVA model I would have grabbed it over the cork.
