daiwa BLX Rods

Wondering if anyone has fished with any of the BLX rods. I have handled a few but not fished with or cast any. Wondering if anyone can speak from experience. Thanks

I've fished a few of them, handled all of them. I'm using the 74MHRB and the 73ML regularly and am very happy with the performance, fit and finish, weight, balance, and overall feel. Feel free to shoot me a PM anytime if I can assist.

I just sold the 7'4 limber casting rod. I didnt sell it because it was not up to par i just had too many unused rods. I used that rod 4 outings and caught fish each time with it. Honestly it was an outstanding stick! It was light, balanced, and pretty sensitive for a reaction bait rod with a regular taper. I really liked it for waking baits (larger sized ones) and throwing chatterbaits also was a fun ordeal on that rod. Very nice rods for sure nice build quality also

Hey, does anyone know if the ML limber spinning version can handle jerkbaits? Its rated for up to 5/8 oz so I would think yes but haven't seen any in person yet.

I personally prefer a fast action rod for jerkbaits. The rod you mentioned would likely be geared towards people who like to throw regular cranks and inline spinners with spinning gear.

Its a great jerk bait rod for small to mid-sized baits.

I haven't fished that particular Valkyrie, but it is noticeably heavier in hand and not as crisp/electric feeling. Don't get me wrong, the Valkyrie series are fantastic rods across the board and I've fished a bunch of them. The BLX has a noticeably lighter and more crisp feeling in my hands...

Probably due to the glass/graphite mix correct? I've heard good things about that stick for jerkbaits but have not touched any of the rods in that series. Ive fished the ronin (both series), imx pro 812s and a few others and liked them but wanted to try something different. I am worried about the weight of the Valkyrie though.

Correct. I'm sure the 6'11" Valkyrie would make a fine jerk bait rod. It weighs 145g vs 98g for the Daiwa BLX 6'10"ML. Just like the BLX 73ML casting rod, don't let the "ML" designation be a deterrent. Daiwa could have designated each a medium power rod and not changed anything else. Choose whichever you like of course, but that BLX is a really fine rod...
