From what I’m reading there are two Texas rig special rods
One with a solid tip and the other without as pointed out by the designators
HXB-ST and HFB respectively.
All rods over 7’ will be two pieces
Doesn’t someone here already have the jigga stick?
Been doing some reading as I’m gearing up to sell some things but kinda irritated when someone sends money on worthless paper.
Anyways, I’d like to know if the rating on the jigga stick is accurate and has anyone used the non solid tipped rod for bottom contact?

This is the business end of the 701MH / HXB-ST (finesse tune) as compared with the 701MH / HFB (technical tune).
Pic 1: Handles are identical save the model designation,
Pic 2: Top rod is the finesse tune with solid tip and bottom is the technical tune. You can see where the solid tip joins tubular carbon. Does not appear to be any wrap on the solid tip, but there is some type of coating.
Pic 3: Far left is Oltre 70BH, middle RD hustler technical tune, and far right is the finesse tune. The titanium tips on the oltre's are just that-tippy tips. The solid tip on the RD finesse tune is quite long.
The guide placement is quite different between the two rods. I'll give her a shot this weekend. The bite here has been on fire; however, it's been jerk bait madness for me. Will have to try to slow down to give it a good testing.
I did not have time to take any good pics of the rod, so I also include some gratuitous tackle porn I shot earlier to compensate. I felt dirty during the shoot. Jigga stick and hustler technical tune sporting some reels not really ideal for bottom contact fishing.

Nicely done! How’s the power and action on the Oltre B70H compare to these two Hustler models and Jigga stick? I’ve been eyeing the Jigga stick for a while now but don’t love the short handle.

You are correct sir. Brain fart with the Oltre sitting next to it. Where the solid tip begins.

Haven’t fished the finesse tune. Jigga stick is faster than hustler. Dom posted some photos comparing the tapers of these two on one of the RD threads. Oltre 70bh is slower than the jigga stick and has a more regular taper initially before backbone. Power wise, I’d say they’re similar; loomis 4-ish+
I like the longer handle on the 70h oltre better also; but the jigga stick has no no real downside. It is a crazy sensitive, light and so well balanced.

Thanks for the comparison. I expect I’ll end up with the Jigga in the end once I get over the pseudo pistol grip.
Daiwa JDM prostaff must not have a lot of tall guys on it, to me the Oltre is tad shorter than I like even. I definitely prefer something in the 11-12” range on a heavy jig rod if I had my pick. Evergreen does the best job with that in my experience but I know that’s too long for the average joe though. As a side note, I’m in the process of tracking down the 6’7” ML+ spinning rod too, if anyone has one they’d part with or knows where to find a good deal on one hit me up via PM!
I’m tempted to get a Jigga stick and extend the handle but that feels like a complete %*##{%{^}%% sacrilege! Hahahaha

I’m really tempted to pull the trigger on the new RD hustler solid tip. I’m debating between the solid tip model and the regular hustler technical tune. I have a poison Ultima 172H that I feel fishes more like a MH. I’m wondering if the regular hustler technical tune would have similar power and taper to the Ultima? My goal is to get a rod maybe a bit faster than the Ultima but similar backbone.

Very Nice combos! Reminds me of Street Fighter Ryu vs Evil Ryu. Can’t wait to get my hands on one.

Thank goodness. When I saw the new ST Racing Design and talked with the designer, one of the main topics of discussion was the wrap all the way to the tip. I was thoroughly confused by the description of the pics! Congrats on the new acquisition, that rod is amazing.
FYI guys, talked with the guys at Gamakatsu in Yokohama, the Oltre line is discontinued. I did spend some time with the Efreet line, and while I'm not crazy about the reel seat, the blanks and simplicity of the finish was impressive.
Polkfish1 - please don't ever apologize for posting pics of a Monoblock on any rod whether its the ideal match or not! They are always beautiful to see regardless

I did see that the Oltre was removed from their website, so that makes sense. Will be seeing a lot more Efreets in the future I bet.
With some of the recent blank and component innovations it’s sure a good time for the rod market. RD is definitely going in an interesting direction that’ll be fun to watch in the years ahead. My wallet might as well go up in flames if they ever came out with a Swimbait model!
