Ss sv spool options
I was just curious if anyone has tried a SS SV with a Zpi nrc001m spool, steez 103 r+, or steel limited 105sv spool? I keep reading about the SS sv being over braked but not sure if it's the spool, magnets, or both.
Re: Ss sv spool options
In my experience it is the spool that is over braked. I swapped mine out for a Steez 103 spool and noticed a substantial increase in casting performance. Mostly regarding pure distance.

Thanks.
Was that the steez 103 spool r+ spool? If so, was it wild or did it still have good control while increasing casting distance?

Re: Ss sv spool options
I have found the Steez 103 spool to be wild in the SS SV. Very un-Daiwa like, in that it was always right on the edge of blowing up. By the time I got the magnets and cc cap dialed in to good control, the reel was getting very poor distance. Heck, the Standard TDZ spool was a little wild in the SS SV. I just don't like a reel I have to babysit on every single cast. On the other hand, I have found the Steez 100 spool to be pure joy in the SS SV, with loads of distance and still good control.chrisg_sdcf wrote: ↑Mon Jan 27, 2020 6:25 amThanks.

Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.
Re: Ss sv spool options
Honestly not even sure it was the stock spool from the original 6.3 Steez. Could even be the 100 will have to check when I get home.chrisg_sdcf wrote: ↑Mon Jan 27, 2020 6:25 amThanks.

Easiest way to tell on the stock Steez spool is that the rotor is red on the 103 spool and purple on the 100 spool.NYBASSIN wrote: ↑Mon Jan 27, 2020 8:28 amHonestly not even sure it was the stock spool from the original 6.3 Steez. Re: Ss sv spool options
It's the spool Chris. The inductor is quite large, similar to the SV103. I'm not sure about the M, it could be alright, but I imagine still fast. I would imagine that the SLP Steez SV105 spool would be a good option, as would the SLP /Megabass 1010.chrisg_sdcf wrote: ↑Mon Jan 27, 2020 4:23 amI was just curious if anyone has tried a SS SV with a Zpi nrc001m spool, steez 103 r+, or steel limited 105sv spool? Re: Ss sv spool options
Just checked my reel. It is in fact the 103 spool with the red inductor. I don’t find it too out of control but I do use it mostly for Pop-Max’s which I would consider a very castable bait.
Re: Ss sv spool options
I’ve run the zpi M spool in the ss Sv. Right on the ragged edge of blowing up on every full cast with the brakes on max. If I had the wind to my back is was great but a slight shift and I was picking a bird’s nest.

Re: Ss sv spool options
Thanks for the info. Don't think I'll be putting the m in the SS sv lol
Re: Ss sv spool options
I put an r+ spring in my SS SV spool and it woke it up a little.
Re: Ss sv spool options
I've used the Steez LTD 105 in my SS SV. It was about the same as it was in the Steez LTD. I ended up using mine for finesse and have a Ray's DIY in it with stronger magnets from an IS73. The SS SV spool and magnets live in the IS73 urban camo for a future build.

I might have to try this. I have an extra Steez limited 105 spool just sitting around. Thanks for the infoLowRange wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2020 3:05 pmI've used the Steez LTD 105 in my SS SV. I've never used the steez limited reel just the limited 105 spool in a TD Ito and it was really nice. How is the spool in the steez limited?Hogsticker2 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2020 6:27 pmI might have to try this. I have an extra Steez limited 105 spool just sitting around.
