Shipping times nowadays

Post by rando » Thu Apr 16, 2020 7:14 pm

Anyone ordered from overseas recently? What were the actual transit times considering everything going on?
I want to have realistic expectations on when I get to play with new toys.

Apologies if posted in wrong section.

In my experience shipping from Japan has been slow. Took a week from collection to dispatch from Japan. Plus five days in US custom. Be prepared to pay import tax.

Although mail items to the United States are currently being accepted, it is expected to take more than two weeks to load the items that have already been accepted on airplanes to that country due to the significant reduction and suspension of flights.

This is the information I received from Buyee

Just had a rod tube shipped from Japan via FedEx. Took 3 days total. So it really depends on the shipper and carrier right now.

Total hit and miss. Digitaka seems to be on track. I've seen 3-4 days, and other stuff getting returned to the sender.

After I put the order in, JapanLure emailed offering free fedex because their usual carriers cannot be used at this time. Hopefully it will be here sooner than later.

Order 2 reels from them in the last 2 months, both came in less than a week. 2nd reel was order 2 wk ago and came in 5 days.

I ordered a rod from Singapore recently and it took like 2 weeks (that was in mid march). And I ordered some line from Japan yesterday and the expected delivery date is 2-3 weeks. So definitely slower than im used to, that said I usually order from japanlureshop which ships super fast and the above purchases were from other vendors.

My JLS order, by fedex, has been stuck in sennan-shi japan for almost a week now, but the delivery was scheduled for yesterday. No carrier is immune from delays.

Asian Portal temporarily suspended rod sales:

"Due to the influence of COVID-19, Japan Post has stopped all delivery, so from April 24, all products will be delivered by FedEx. In addition, the shipment of rod products will be temporarily suspended. For inquiries regarding shipping methods, please contact "info@fishing.asian-portal.co.jp". Thank you for your kind understanding."

I have 2 rods stuck at Japan Customs, one was shipped thru EMS on April 4 and another on April 14.

From what ive seen they are still sending shipments received before April 24, there is a significant backlog because of lack of aircraft so the backlog may take up to 4 months to clear.

I had a small order accepted on 04/17/2020. Still not showing in USPS tracking yet. They shut down EMS on the 20th, I think. I thought it may have gotten through. Now I’m not so sure.
