ZPI Spool differences
ZPI Spool differences
It seems there is a lack in consistency between the same models of RC 001/002 spools. Is there any difference between the gold & silver inductors?
I have a 002 that is ported inside while the others are not? Anything special about that?
Some also have the inductors ported as well??
Anyone able to clear up this confusion? Are any of them more collectible?

Re: ZPI Spool differences
if I remember correctly the spools with the gold inductor had ceramic ZPI bearings, while the standard silver inductor ones have stainless steel ZPI bearings. the inductor itself should be the same.
can't help you with ported spools/inductors... i'm sure someone can clarify the differences.

Re: ZPI Spool differences
Standard model spools are non "S" models. Early in the run all the inductors were silver and non were S models, all had standard SS bearings. At a point in time they changed the inductor color to gold. This was mostly seen on Millionaire 201/202 spools. Oddly enough silver inductors were still offered. Then came the S spools with the ported gold inductors and SIC bearings. Some colors were only available with the silver inductor and some only available as S spools. S and non S were available at the same time at the end of the run. Theres also a black non ported inductor found on 001 and 002 Racing Reds labelled as the CV-Custom.

Any idea about the standard two small hole ported spools vs the 8 larger hole ported spool like the legend blue 002 I posted?

Just variation in when they are built. ZPI didn't hold fast to many standards with these spools. Weight is all over the board with them as well just due to paint thickness.

In general, do most people prefer the NRCs over the RC MGspools?
